Backstory

Mayael was my first "real" commander deck, after Gisela, Blade of Goldnight . The moment I saw her ability, I was in love. I've been a true Timmy player for as long as I've been playing the game (probably about 4 years, not sure), and I've been upgrading and playing Mayael for over a year now. I'm a sucker for slamming down massive, impactful creatures turn after turn and swinging for lots of tramply flying hasty damage. Mayael is the perfect commander for that. While being balanced (unlike a certain Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy that I also love and built around), she adds an element of chaos and excitement to every activation, as you cross your fingers and hope to not whiff. It's such a fun deck, and you can even switch out the Mayael targets (stuff with power 5 or greater) for other creatures! One thing I like to do with this deck is to take 23 random creatures from a stack I have of possible targets and slap them in the deck. It adds another level of randomness and fun! If you love Naya and giant creatures, I guarantee you'll love this deck!

So this deck can take a few different paths, depending on what you're playing against. If you know your opponent will be focused on ramp for the first turns, instead of holding mana for removal, then you're safe to explode right out of the gate with mana rocks and dorks, using cards like Bloom Tender and Faeburrow Elder to activate Mayael as early as turn 3 or 4! If you manage to get a creature like Archetype of Endurance right off the bat, you're pretty much set.

If your opponent likes to sit on their counterspells and damage spells ( Kess, Dissident Mage ) then you can use the safer, slower ramp offered by the land tutors. And sometimes it's better to go slow anyway, so that you can just gradually amass value and win the game out of nowhere. It all depends on what your opponents are playing and how they interact with other players in the game.

I'm considering remaking the card guide to be a little more in-depth, like explaining meta choices and stuff, is that a good idea?

Updates Add

Swapped out quite a few underperforming cards to try some new ones, still on the fence about Knollspine Dragon and Nyxbloom Ancient, since Dragon is usually a dead card, and Ancient is just kinda bland, it wins games sometimes but eh, I feel like something could go better in their place. I also officially own a Scroll Rack and Mirri's Guile now, so I'm super hyped to test those out!
