Hey! How's it going?
I've recently been getting back into the brewing side of Magic after a while and I've come with this (and several similar!)
I basically asked myself, "can we build a linear aggro-tribal strategy, in standard, with access to powerful sideboard options.
Answer: Maybe? What started out as a bit of fun, starting at 5 colours(colors, for you American folk), grew into a deck that felt pretty powerful and could tussle with the big boys.
"If 4 colour energy is considered no consistent enough, why should I play this?Ah yes, "Draw-Perfect Energy", the name given to the deck as it needed to draw perfectly to win may have had some consistency issues dues to its 4C manabase, but we get a few improvements!
Unclaimed Territory , this card is the key, by playing a deck that consists of all creatures (bar 6 cards and lands) Unclaimed Territory becomes an easy addition n our deck and it really smooths out the mana!
Aether Hub
+
Attune with Aether
+
Evolving Wilds
, all act as additional 4 colour lands, whilst Evolving Wilds lets us do some great things with Renegade Rallier
Vizier?
Look, I know, it doesn't look great, it has poor stats, but it really is good, in this deck, I promise! So Vizier of Deferment as a 2 of has really impressed me, it gets sided out in a lot of match-ups but it will still do work in those game ones, in our list we have a slew of targets Kitesail Freebooter (To reset in late game), Rogue Refiner (Great advantage), Cloudblazer (There is very few sweeter feelings), Renegade Rallier (Gives you revolt) and Hostage Taker (Need I explain this one?). Don't forget you can also use it to protect attacking creatures from removal and reset any creature that was cast before your mimics. But is that enough to warrant it's slot in this deck? Maybe, but it also gains value in other places, it hits opponents creatures, resetting Longtusk Cubs, removing The Scarab God tokens, Earthshaker Khenra tokens (or any externalized tokens Adorned Pouncer
+
Resilient Khenra
are begining to see a lot of play), not too mention opposing Hostage Taker's to steal away combats.
The Scarab God is not a Human?!?!
No... but hey, he's bustedAnd you can think of like this, he's these humans God, that they worship and every once in a while he shows up and bring them back to lifa and steals games of magic away from the opponent?
Why White
This is an interesting question and I feel the answer is purely Cloudblazer, it's just... so good and fun to cast, if you haven't, I recommend doing so, as fast as possible! (Maybe there's a list very, very close by you can use). Renegade Rallier + Vizier of Deferment
are but bonuses, granted they do play into helping the grindier wins, which plays into the Cloudblazer
+
The Scarab God
plan. Oh by the way, did I mention Cloudblazer
+
The Scarab God
?? Cause that's great.
Match-Ups
One day I will do this seriouslyBut for now, Red is good for you, Temur is close, (Not t4 Glorybringer into t5 Glorybringer pls)(Also no main deck Chandra helps) Sultai is not great, GPG is fine, Pummeler you need to fight through the hexproof spells (Vizier of Deferment is great here!)),4c Energy (Heavy Black) is kind of a coin toss (Swingy cards like Gonti can really decide the match-up)4c Energy (Heavy Red, splashing for Scarab God/Vraska) you really can punish them for their constrained manabase, look to kill quick4c Energy (Control), I'm not too sure on this one, yet to play/test vs itMardu, Heart of Kiran is tough for us for sure,Appraoch Variants, Game is always wash for us,
Game 2 & 3 almost always improve our match-ups, will come up with some write up for that soon.
Version 2??
I will leave a link to version 2 once I have it all written up,
Otherwise, thanks for taking the time to read this (possible) hot garbage deck list, if you have any questions, please drop them in the comments section, I will try my best to get back to you as soon as possible!
