This is my modern mono-white human/soldier deck. At the moment I play only casual against my friends. I've been trying to make it as good as possible, but also fun to play, so nothing too serious here.
Any improvement ideas are welcome. If you like the deck, please
MAINBOARD
Creatures:
Captain of the Watch
: If this card ever hits the battlefield, the opponent is gonna be in a lot of trouble. 90% of the time I use
Preeminent Captain
to cheat her in.
Champion of the Parish
: This guy is the reason I started building a human deck in the first place. For me, he is the star of this deck. Pretty much always eats removal as soon as he enters the battlefield, but that's okay.
Consul's Lieutenant
: One of my favorite cards from the Origins set. Fits right into this deck. Helps me get a lot of quick wins.
Field Marshal
: +1/+1 and first strike for all other soldiers? Yeah sure, why not? If I have a lot of soldiers on the battlefield with this guy and the opponent can't kill him, it's pretty much game over.
Hada Freeblade
: This guy's only job is to trigger
Champion of the Parish
and
Kazandu Blademaster
.
Kazandu Blademaster
: Truly a blademaster. I really love this guy. Put him on the battlefield followed by a couple of
Hada Freeblade
and things are looking really nice.
Kytheon, Hero of Akros
: Amazing synergy with the rest of the deck even in his creature form.
Gideon, Battle-Forged
's first two abilities makes attacking and blocking really difficult for the opponent. And then the 0 ability... a 4/4 human soldier creature with indestructible plus he also gets all the buffs I have going on. Gotta love this.
Odric, Master Tactician
: Odric's ability is just plain unfair. He is a removal magnet, but if I ever get to swing with him and some other guys, the opponent's gonna regret it.
Precinct Captain
: I like soldier tokiens. And his first strike is nice too. Nuff said.
Preeminent Captain
: A very important card in this deck. First strike is nice, but the main reason I use him, is to get
Captain of the Watch
and
Odric, Master Tactician
on the battlefield.
Ranger of Eos
: Use
Preeminent Captain
to cheat this guy in and then search your library for either
Champion of the Parish
or
Hada Freeblade
.
Other cards:
Honor of the Pure
: One of the best white anthems. Very important in the early game.
Brave the Elements
: The best protection imo. If not used to protect my creatures, I use this to swing for victory. Pretty simple.
Disenchant
: Pretty self explanatory.
Path to Exile
: One of the best removal cards. Oh, you like that Primordial Hydra? Here, have a forest instead.
Sword of Feast and Famine
: I really love this sword, especially against black and green decks. Just brutal.
Plains
: The best way to get white mana...
SIDEBOARD
Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit: Her mana cost is low, she is a soldier and she has bolster. What more could you want? I still haven't decided if she is mainboard material though, but nonetheless an amazing card.
Celestial Purge
: Against black and red decks obviously. It's always better to exile than to destroy, especially against black decks.
Darien, King of Kjeldor
: My good old lord Darien. Because of the fact that he is nowadays considered a human soldier and not a human lord, he could very well end up in the mainboard. I can cheat him in with
Preeminent Captain
and if anyone is foolish enough to damage me, I'll have a battlefield full of angry soldiers.
Fiendslayer Paladin
: Almost mainboard material. His only downside is that he is a knight and not a soldier. A must have against burn decks.
Mirran Crusader
: A really really awesome creature. If he was a soldier I would mainboard him. All my friends hate this guy.
Sword of War and Peace
&
Sword of Fire and Ice
: Swords are good, m'kay?
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
: I mostly use her against burn decks. Messes up my own game too much to keep her in the mainboard.
