Talrand decks seem to figure themselves out, but this one includes a hedge: a low CMC tribal merefolk element, which has saved me on several occasions. Other players tend to ignore the merefolk on the board in favor of stopping Talrand's mischief and countering my counters, but they do so at their own peril and generally realize it too late. This deck has been very lucky for me, and it doesn't overtly upset my playgroup, which is rare for a typical Talrand build. One on one, this is a beater: stall your opponent, disrupt their combos, while incrementally advancing your board state and gradually wear them down.

That said, I'm more than game for any suggestions for upgrades, but I think I have this deck right where I want it. Also, I love merefolk to a degree that is unsettling for most!
