So, despite my low amount of experience making decks of any kind, a friend of mine handed me a Sedris, the Traitor King, Unscythe, Killer of Kings, Crumbling Necropolis, and Sutured Ghoul and told me to make an EDH deck out of it. Needless to say, I'm somewhat lost because of the sheer possibility involved with EDH; I have been playing with friends' decks for a while, but deck-building is something I haven't really tried up until now. So be gentle.

If you weren't aware, Unearth counts as a "delayed triggered ability", which means two things:

a) The part of the ability that activates at the end step (to remove the creature from the battlefield) can be countered, and

b) That part of the ability can be canceled with effects such as Time Stop and Sundial of the Infinite when it goes on the stack.

However, unearthed creatures will still be exiled when they leave the battlefield - unless you exile them yourself! For this reason I've included everyone's favorite Deadeye Navigator, as well as Voidwalk . Alternatively, Sundial of the Infinite is a fantastic little piece that makes all spells and abilities on the stack exiled, which includes Unearth triggers (can also use it to counter people who think they're being clever on your turn). To summarize: you can just hit the blinks to remove the exile effect permanently, or dodge it with Sundial. It's very experimental and I can't wait to try it.

Since I'm running a number of things that don't benefit from dashing in, swinging and leaving forever, I'm running a small number of graveyard interaction cards. Notables include Tempt with Immortality and Victimize.

In late game, if everyone has lots of creatures and it turns into a deadlock, we can still win with an overloaded Teleportal or Cyclonic Rift. However, the primary playstyle has recently been changed to be something like "EtB pseudo-control + damage" where things like Purphoros, God of the Forge and It That Betrays can act as wincons. I might add a Black Market at some point, to make the Purphoros wincon more of an uncounterable shock victory if my yard is loaded and the Market is rich.

My plan is to use Dulcet Sirens to force an opponent to run that squishy utility creature straight into that Jund dragons player next to me. It's a very political card and fits the late-game Bolas theme of the deck fairly well, particularly if you're playing a free-for-all with four or more players. It basically helps direct traffic, so to speak, while I'm waiting for the pieces of My Crushing Masterstroke to come together.

I'm waiting with bated breath for something in the new Zendikar block to be Exactly What This Deck Needs.

While not a true "Budget" deck in my mind, this deck contains budget elements and therefore is tagged as such.

If you have any suggestions, please, PLEASE feel free to comment. As I said, I'm a pretty novice decksmith, so any and all constructive feedback is much appreciated.

Updates Add

Turns out Phasing doesn't cause permanents to change zones, only "act like they don't exist". Ergo, it's as useless as everyone said it was.

Made some further changes, attempting to make most things recursive with something or someone, so that I can search up the retriever with Lily or Rune if things get rough. Unfortunately, there's no way for Grixis to revive Planeswalkers short of shuffling the graveyard into the deck.

Also I nuked the comments.

EDIT EDIT: Made several major changes, and will likely continue making fundamental changes throughout the week.
