Why mono- Edgar Markov? That's an excellent question, and I'm very glad you asked. Are there any more questions? No? Then I think we're done here.

Actually, there are two reasons. First, I simply like the aesthetic of mono-black vampires, mostly the predators from Zendikar, better than the Ixalan conquīstadores or Innistrad nobility. It's far from a deal breaker, though, so some of each found their way on, along with other miscellaneous Vampires.

Second, I wanted to design an EDH deck that didn't use the full color identity. There's no special reason for this, other than challenging myself. The Eminence commanders and Oloro, Ageless Ascetic have something to do while they're sitting in the back watching over everything, so they were a natural place to start, and Vampires are one of my favorite major tribes. Edgar can just hang out in the command zone and send his spawn into the world, so I don't feel like I'm losing much by not including the secondary colors.

If there's truly no better option, it's fair to use Blood Celebrant or Cavern of Souls and Voldaren Estate to cast Edgar.

The win conditions for this deck are

Worth noting that Blood Tribute can slot into either of the first two win conditions in place of Exquisite Blood or Fraying Omnipotence to take out a single player.

So it's pretty straightforward stuff. There are some interesting synergies as well, and multiple sacrifice effects to take advantage of the free tokens, and some stuff that looks fun (for me, at least. If I New Blood or Captivating Vampire your best creature, I don't mean it personally. Unless I do).
