Sideboard

Its really straightforward. Play beef and kill things.

In the main we have one of the best removal suites for the rotation period. Skipping of Murderous Cut is a hard thing to do but I feel like its not necessary here. Creature setup is straightforward. Rhinos, Raptors, Wanderers, and Walkers complemented by Protectors, Wardens, and Dranas. Sorin I find more useful than Gideon simply because of the high noncreature spell count. The extra life he can give can really set you up for the long haul if need be and his emblem sits well against control if you can hit it.

Sideboard is a little tricky sometimes knowing when to side in Dromoka is always a head-scratcher with my curve usually topping at 4 all of a sudden accommodating a 6 drop. Feed is useful anywhere where your life dwindles before you're ready. Anafenza can come in against almost anything. She's not in main because as you can tell its kinda cramped. Used against aristocrats and against your run-of-the-mill Abzan. Shes super handy against Jeskai-Black cutting of reanimation. Other than that its just knowing how to play your removal which can only be learned by testing. If you dont honestly know how to side go with your gut. Dont side things without justification.

WOOOOHOOOO I WAS SO STOKED OH MY GOSH I HAVENT MADE IN FOR THE CUT IN MONTHS

Round 1: EnBantments 1-1-1

Overall we ended up drawing giving me a match point which is better than a loss (zero points) and less than a win (3 points). Game 1 he Curved out perfectly and I couldnt keep up with his angel production. Game 2 I managed to pull enough beats and ended up killing him with a Rhino trigger via Utter End on a stasis snare. Game 3 started with 7 minutes on round and neither deck was fast enough to make game damage. Granted he was a 29 life but I was just hitting the curve and I think it was going to go in my favor but nobody really knows.

Round 2: 4 Color Enchantment Control. 1-1

Actually this player came up with the enBantment theme at our location and was trying something different with Outpost Siege and black for the sideboard like Infinite Obliteration. Game 1 I smacked face and got a second rhino trigger yet again via utter end. He hit a Starfield but via dromokas command and utter end I managed to keep his count below 5 long enough. Game two grinded to a halt after he obliterated both my rhinos and dranas. We went to time and he killed me turn 0 on the 5 turn rule.

Round 3: Red/White Ally aggro. 2-0

Honestly both games could have turned in his favor at a moments notice so I prioritized removal over bodies and ended up coming out on top. I think this matchup is like atarka red where all you have to do is survive and stabilize and you're set.

Round 4: Atarka Red 2-1

Managed to stay alive to midgame each game but game two he had a Zada he brought in against me (I know like what?) but it ended up working sure striking three creatures killing me for exact. other games I managed to hit Sorin and pulled out of kill range.

Round 5: Four-Color Midrange 2-1

Again this color combo being popular at my local. He was playing a different version whereas I am Abzan splash Red, he is Mardu splash Green. Double thunderbreak game 2 was pretty scary, but overall I feel I had (I cant believe I'm saying this) a more consistent setup. We both hit topdeck mode game 3 with 5 minutes on round and mine were better. Pulled the win with 20 seconds on clock

Semi-Finals: Sultai Reanimator 2-1

Game 1 was almost no competition in my opponents favor. I played to cautious trying to figure out how to play against his deck. He ran sidisi-khan, deathmists, Kioras. A bunch of good stuff. basically he built up a field of zombie token, but I sided accordingly. played every removal spell I had and focused my exiles on deathmists and sidisis when presented. Game 2 was kinda close but game 3 I honestly became a control deck almost. He exert influenced my second Anafenza after killing the first with self inflicted wound, I ended up Pathing the Anafenza and abzan charming a sidisi in the same turn. Finally blows were dealt through my shambling vent and I finished him off with Kolaghans Command to the face

Finals: Bant to the Future 2-1

Game 1 went my favor with a perfect curve out, no question Game 2 was very different. he hit nissa's renewal turn 4 and Awakened Part the waterveil twice in a row after that. I had a single turn before he did a 3rd and I was helpless Game 3 I managed to get the damage to his early rampers enough to slow him long enough for the kill

Very excited that the deck performed well against hard to play against decks. In the end I learned a lot of piloting on the fly and kick some booty along the way, as well as receiving some booty in the form of a Token, Roast, and Pin, as well as a nice sum of store credit
