This is simply a budget to introduce my friends into MTG. The main combo is just having your big creatures obliterate opponents creatures by nerfing them with
Downsize
- Pressure early with beef sticks such as
Kalonian Tusker
,
Garruk's Companion
- Bait opponents with blocking with stronger creatures only to get debuffed with
Downsize
.
- Control the midgame with hard hitting Leatherback Baloth
- Summon a
Reverent Hunter
to pressure opponents to block and lose field presence.
- Summon Archetype of Imagination to fly your beasts for the win.
Card by card analysis:
Aspect of Hydra - Played only when there is a clean hit and lots of green mana symbols on board. Use combat tricks to remove threats. Bonus for using on creatures with Trample
Archetype of Imagination - Not really a win con but it can certainly influence it. It comes in on turn 6, float all the creatures for a clean hit, no doubt. However if there are multiple large flying defenders, a simple Polymorphist's Jest to fix the win.
Courser of Kruphix - Again his costs 1GG makes him ideal to synergize with
Reverent Hunter
and his stats him work well with the nerfing spells
Hydrosurge
Turn to Frog Polymorphist's Jest.
Downsize
- cheap way to take down an opponent or completely decimate a field of attackers with overload.
Primal Rage
useful vs chump blockers
Negate - Efficient denial of answers for the opponent. I deal with the opponent's creatures with my own beefy creatures. This is to stop other artifacts, target removal and planeswalker from hitting the field.
Reverent Hunter
- This is one of the win cons or the cards that will pressure the field. It can be a 4/4 on turn 3, 7/7 on turn 4 and beyond.
Leatherback Baloth efficient beatstick that stacks devotion
Garruk's Companion
stack devotion, early pressure and trample. Great for Aspect of Hydra
Predator Ooze Pressures opponents and is hard to remove.
Rancor A must have for ensuring damage
Sagu Mauler
I had a hard choice between
Khalni Hydra
and Primalcrux and ultimately on average brought out the hydra at around 5 mana with 3 creatures on board. It felt too slow because there isn't a lot of ramp here. So I went with the more durable and Trampling bastard out there.
