THIS IS DECK OF SLIVER. SLIVER DECK.
Being reworked into a full Mardu commander deck!
As with most sliver decks, the idea is to get as many slivers out as possible.
However, I have deliberately reduced the redundancy as much as possible in this deck to increase gameplay variance.
The Big Swingers!
- Alesha, Who Smiles at Death to cheat discarded and/or dead slivers back into play.
- Grenzo, Dungeon Warden to work on my deck from the opposite end. Perfect, seeing as every creature in this deck triggers his ability when X=0.
- Mirror Entity gains all the powers given to it by slivers, and its X ability is an absolute game-ender.
Draw and Discard!
- Homing Sliver is the big daddy here. Granting other slivers slivercycling helps feed my graveyard whilst fixing my hand - cycled slivers can be returned via Alesha.
- Tormenting Voice to fix and feed graveyard.
- Faithless Looting to fix and feed graveyard.
- Corpse Churn for graveyard feeding and returning a creature to hand.
Utilities!
- Mentor of the Meek shines in this deck.
- Frontline Medic is good against low-cost hydras, and acts as a Sliver Hivelord when it matters the most.
- Browbeat and Sword-Point Diplomacy are on the short-list for removing. I find that the damage is a decent threat as part of an aggressive deck, so more often than not I get cards.
- Underworld Connections for a little draw.
- Unearth as a one-off creature return.
- Corpse Churn as a one-off return to hand + graveyard feed.
- Hive Stirrings gives me tokens! Sure.
- Mutavault is a land that could be a Sliver if I -really- needed it. Winner!
Removal
- Pyroclasm is fantastic in Tiny Leaders, and my slivers tend to get pumped higher than the two-toughness threshold.
- Terminate is okay. Considering Dreadbore as a replacement, because Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver would thrash this deck.
- Path to Exile is just great. Creature exile, big or small. Can exile my own critters to ramp if I'm desperate, too.
- Acidic Sliver to Shock when I can't attack.
- Necrotic Sliver to break anything! Lands, wizards, bears, coconuts, abstraction, anything.
- Hunter Sliver has provoke, which can act as low-threshold creature removal - especially squishy utility creatures that your opponent would rather keep.
The Others: Sliver Suite Beta
- Barbed Sliver for some sweet pump.
- Blade Sliver nets me extra power, and is already a 2/2 body.
- Crypt Sliver allows me to save my critters, and works fantastically with Vigilance effects.
- Frenzy Sliver basically grants me another conditional power, no complaints.
- Heart Sliver grants haste! Always handy in an aggressive deck.
- Metallic Sliver? Every chump counts!
- Quilled Sliver to kill/deter attackers. Also works fantastically with Vigilance.
- Sedge Sliver is ridiculously good, granting power and toughness and regeneration? Sure.
- Sentinel Sliver grants Vigilance, which plays well with tap abilities.
- Sinew Sliver is essentially a 2/2 and is a full sliver lord!
- Steelform Sliver for that little extra toughness against Shock and Pyroclasm.
- Striking Sliver gives first strike for a single red.
- Syphon Sliver grants Lifelink! Invaluable against aggro and burn decks, too.
- Two-Headed Sliver grants Menace, allowing more hits.
