All Nephilim all the time

Commander / EDH Changeling Nephilim Tokens

Ledfox

Morophon, the Boundless Nephilim tribal

All Nephilim all the time.

So what are Nephilim anyway?

Nephilim were an unusual tribe cycle which was printed in Guildpact. Although the Nephilim were a major part of the story, none of the cards printed in the cycle were legendary.

It doesn't mean they weren't frikkin sweet though.

Why Morophon?

Our honorary Nephilim, Morophon, the Boundless is legendary. However, he is such an astonishingly efficient enabler of all the Nephilim that Morophon was a clear choice for the helm. When he's on the field, all Nephilim can be cast without having to pay any mana, enabling some excellent strategies I'll be getting into in more detail shortly.

Five Strategies

This does not need Morophon out to win (although it helps). Instead, it is designed to win with any of the Nephilim in play. It is designed to be flexible and polymorphic, diligently hammering opponents with value while drawing through in order to ultimately overwhelm with synergy. The strategic focus depends on which Nephilim you draw into.

Yore-Tiller Nephilim

Yore-Tiller Nephilim loves cards in the graveyard, especially ones that enjoy attacking. It is great to see late game after board wipes have gone off. It plays especially well with Solemn Simulacrum , Plaguecrafter and Geode Golem .

Witch-Maw Nephilim

Witch-Maw Nephilim is just happy to be on the field. Easily pulled-back by Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and delighted to be copied by Glasspool Mimic   or Cackling Counterpart it is simple for Witch-Maw to spiral out of control. Synergizes very well with the strategy for Ink-Treader, but we'll get into that later. This one also likes Knight of New Alara more than the others.

It is fun to have Witch-Maw and Taurean Mauler - the mono-red Nephilim - and see which one your opponents decide is more dangerous.

Glint-Eye Nephilim

Glint-Eye Nephilim is a card-drawing powerhouse. We try to amplify and spread this effect around further with draw-enablers like Toski, Bearer of Secrets , Ohran Frostfang and Reconnaissance Mission . Of course the Glint-Eye heavy-hitter needs very little help to be a major threat.

Dune-Brood Nephilim

Dune-Brood Nephilim is a bit of the awkward child. Fortunately, we have plenty of space for them and excellent Sand creature token enabling including buddies like Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer who can transform these sand tokens into something out of Mimic Vat , or Feldon of the Third Path . We also have Guided Passage which, for its implied versatility, always seems to get a land AND a ramp spell which is not a bad deal for Dune-Brood.

Ink-Treader Nephilim

Last and certainly not least, Ink-Treader Nephilim is a major bomb in this deck. Decent spells like Supplant Form , Mythos of Illuna and Rite of Replication pop off if you aim them at Ink-Treader. Spot-removal like Deathsprout , Snap and Aether Mutation explode into value that can be difficult for your opponents to overcome. Multipliers like Feather, the Redeemed and Spellweaver Volute let you do it again and again, while Nivmagus Elemental is more than happy to eat the spells you didn't need.

Not legendary? Not a problem: Copy Effects

Copy effects don't usually win on their own, so I consider them an extension of the Nephilim strategies above. Cards like Orvar, the All-Form and Riku of Two Reflections enable multiple strategies. Again, the Nephilim are not legendary creatures, so making multiple copies of any of them is just an excellent idea.

The best copy effect in the deck is Lithoform Engine which doubles up anything you like without concern for the mana color.

Honorable Mention: Strange Tutors

I already mentioned Guided Passage - a very unusual tutor spell. This deck also has room for Clutch of the Undercity which can grab any Nephilim for a mere 3 mana, Bring to Light which can fetch and play any Nephilim for 5 mana and Conflux which can grab all of your Nephilim (Or basically any 5 cards in the deck). There are a lot of tutors in the deck: the idea is to be able to fetch out anything you need by some combination of Nephilim abilities, tutors and copy effects.
