A modestly priced Illuna, Apex of Wishes stax list, curated while riding off my discovery of The First Sliver food chain builds. Wins through the compact combos of Illuna, Apex of Wishes + Mirror of Fate + Selective Memory or Eternal Scourge + Food Chain + Illuna, Apex of Wishes . Heavily utilizes cards such as Selective Memory, Manipulate Fate and Foresight to exile pieces for later use with Mirror of Fate or Food Chain, such as Thassa's Oracle or the usual Eternal Scourge.

Not built for cEDH; more-so high power; and it's definitely high power. Bound to lose games at random because I avoided fast mana, but aay, that's Wizards' problem. At the end of the day, I'd rather have $1000 for emergencies than for a Mox Diamond.

So, what does this build technically have over The First Sliver & other Food Chain builds in competitive/high power? A few things, actually; big one being you're not limited to sub-5 cmc cards, making Selective Memory & Illuna, Apex of Wishes an effective play-anything combo that's also insanely resilient. Less colors to worry about means cheaper budget, and more fun options becoming viable like Gadwick, the Wizened. But really, basics are amazing on the budget, and with stax pieces like Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon, Back to Basics, and even Ruination all existing, I'd say yes, there is merit to running Illuna, Apex of Wishes over The First Sliver.

I'm experimenting a bit with this build, and though Illuna, Apex of Wishes is Temur, it's built like one that's mono-colored. Fixing is primarily done through artifacts that can be initially played with just or , like Arcane Signet

Selective Memory > exile everything excluding Mirror of Fate. Cast Eternal Scourge & mutate Illuna, Apex of Wishes onto them. 100% chance to get Mirror of Fate due to the deck only containing lands and nonpermanents. Crack Mirror of Fate, returning Thassa's Oracle and whatever else you need; think of it like a Doomsday. Draw/play/whatever else you need to do there to win.

or...

Manipulate Fate // Foresight (exile Eternal Scourge) > Food Chain = the classic. Infinite mana for creatures. Illuna, Apex of Wishes can be infinitely mutated onto Eternal Scourge to put every permanent the deck has into play. Find Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, continue to mutate Illuna, Apex of Wishes until the deck is empty (Illuna, Apex of Wishes exiles nonpermanents permanently, unlike The First Sliver) and +1 that boy.

Should note btw, as for the name, Alzheimer's Disease is a serious bitch. I've lost ppl close to me to it, and I'm by no means trying to be disrespectful towards those affected by it, be it directly or indirectly. If anything, being silly about it is a coping mechanism I have for the unrelenting depression brought upon by the reality of such a disease existing ^^
