Modern Competitive Delver Humans UBR (Grixis)

Sideboard

This is a bit of a different take on Grixis Delver. Instead of relying heavily on cards with delve like Murderous Cut and Gurmag Angler I have instead gone back a few years and stuck to lower CMC spells and am main boarding two Dark Confidant to keep my hand full and allow me to press the advantage with as few creatures as possible and hold back control.

Like with older versions of delver, the trick is to never over extend. This is not an aggro deck, it is a control deck that keeps up pressure from turn one. A single Delver of Secrets   or Young Pyromancer can be enough to kill your opponent if you keep a hand full of counter spells and removal, something we have plenty of. It is important to use your cantrips to control the top of the deck because there still is one Tasigur, the Golden Fang in the deck and revealing him with Dark Confidant can easily kill you. Each creature in the deck is a human, giving us the option of playing Cavern of Souls as a one of to create a slight advantage against Twin or mirror matches.

All feedback is welcome.

Sideboard

Counterflux - Brought in against storm for it's overload or brought in against twin as an uncounterable counter.

Crumble to Dust - Brought in against Tron, though it can be of use against Jund or Abzan.

Damping Matrix - Brought in against Twin, but can also be used against Collected Company decks after they have sideboarded out their Reclamation Sage

Deathmark - Brought in against Abzan and Jund to kill off Tarmagoyfs and Siege Rhino

Flashfreeze - Brought in against Burn and possibly twin.

Hurkyl's Recall - Brought in against Afinity.

Mana Leak - Brought in against Twin and Burn.

Rending Volley - Brought in against Twin.

Spell Pierce - Brought in against Burn and Storm.

Surgical Extraction - Brought in in most matchups, as ridding the deck of a key card or a card they have mutiples copies of in their hand, revealed with Gitaxian Probe, is extremely valuble. Playing it on mainboard is not advised because if drawn in the opening hand or early game, when it is optimally played, it is a dead card until you both a) Know what your opponent is playing and b) Have a good target for the card.
