AMERICAWelcome to American Superfriends, and thank you for taking the time to look at my deck. Here, all we care about is defending our board until we can start dropping planeswalker after planeswalker and get as much value out of them as possible.

The Idea

Planeswalkers

I love planeswalkers, ever since I pulled my first one, an Elspeth, Sun's Champion back in Theros block. Lately, 'walkers have become more and more powerful, and more and more an important part of the meta. So, the idea of this deck was to just cram a bunch of them in one deck and see what happens!

The Colors

Now, I know that a lot of people think green is the best color for superfriends, because of Oath of Nissa and other fun cards. While I admit this is a nice plus, I chose to go Jeskai for several reasons.

  1. Control - With blue, I can include such cards as Negate, Dispel, and Horribly Awry. Countering is the best way for a deck like this to survive the early game

  2. Burn - Red is literally the only color for burn. Thats it. Where else can I find Galvanic Bombardment, Kozilek's Return , and all the different Chandras?? For those creatures that can't be countered or that I have no mana to counter, I can burn them off the battlefield ASAP.

  3. Tempo - White is one of my favorite colors in standard right now. I can drop a Thalia, Heretic Cathar turn three because I know it will make my opponent fall behind until they get rid of it. If I am behind in boardstate, Cataclysmic Gearhulk will be a great thing to see.

The Deck

Nahiri is amazing in this deck. Right from the start, she can come out and help me filter my useless cards, or get rid of an annoying Virulent Plague. Her ultimate can be game-ending, especially when I can go grab my Emrakul, the Promised End and swing for 13 hasty damage.

Jace is all about card advantage. The scry and draw is very helpful for searching for whatever card I need. And Jace himself is an answer for a lot of creatures! Drop him and -2 immediately to bounce a sylvan advocate so I can counter it the next turn. And of course, his ult is practically game-ending as well.

So far, as a replacement for Narset Transcendent, Dovin looks pretty darn good. He adds more to the control side of the deck, further protecting himself and his fellow walkers. His -2 helps with more card draw, and his ultimate (while probably not likely to be used) is a killer.

Gideon is very helpful when I need something to distract my opponent. Immediately getting a 2/2 body out on the field is very helpful, especially when I am lagging behind. Of course, after playing a Secure the Wastes, his -4 is very helpful as well! Also, a 5/5 indestructible creature is nothing to laugh at.

Chandra is amazing. She plays at the top of the curve, and helps clear the board very nicely, whether it is attacking with her 3/1's and forcing a block, or using her minus ability and straight up wiping everything. And in certain situations, her 0 ability can be very helpful also.

I see big things for this new Chandra, however. Both +1s are usable, with the second one helping me fix my mana a little more than I can right now. The first +1 can almost always help as well, either for the damage or for the card advantage. Her -3 is good board control, and her ultimate is game ending.

Thalia gives me a respite from aggressive creature decks, letting me stall until I can find answers or drop my planeswalkers and give them something else to attack. With all the non-basic lands these days, she is a huge problem for multi-colored decks.

Pretty much thrown in here for Nahiri's ultimate, but I theoretically could cast her, since I do have 6 card types.

Goblin Dark-Dwellers can flash back many of the spells in this deck, especially removal. Galvanic Bombardments, Declaration in Stone, Kozilek's return, etc.

Gotta love a counter on a stick, right? 2/3 Flash Flying Spirit that lets me exile a spell is a very good addition to this deck, adding to the control side.

Regardless of which mode the opponent chooses, combustible gearhulk is killer. Card advantage or burn, both of which are always a good thing. The first strike body isn't too shabby either.

Sideboard

Just as important as the deck is the sideboard you chose to play alongside it. A reminder: this sideboard is geared towards both my local meta and to a lesser extent the general meta right now.

Good counter that you would board in against CoCo, Big Red, Control (depending), and some mirrors.

Nice three drop that can be used to help deal with Humans, werewolves, or other decks where board wipes require three damage.

Great for mirror or other decks that use a lot of planeswalkers or big, unanswerable creatures.

Good against CoCo, Humans, or literally anything with a lot of low-drop creatures.

Here for games where I need some more cards, such as control, or some more damage.

Stops Emrakul and emerge decks in their tracks. Praise the gods.

Counters any eldrazi cards and artifact cards that trouble me.

Thank you, and if you like the deck, don't forget to +1!
