Aminaou, The Fateshifter

Intro

This is my third major overhaul of this deck. It no longer focuses on giving things away and instead focuses on a lot of ETB Abuse.

  • Felidar Guardian This is probably the best synergy card in the deck and honestly warrants more tutors being in the deck. This creature can flicker Aminatou and in turn, she can flicker it right back. It's a 2 card infinite loop.

  • Oath of Teferi Easily the second best card in the deck. allowing for so many multiple combos to go infinite.

  • Hostage Taker is some decent ETB abuse. Once you cast the card that's exiled you are free to flicker him again and steal something else. (Mana rocks are a nice steal early on if no creatures pose a threat)

  • Peregrine Drake basically better than free to cast if you are using bounce lands. So if you only have 5 lands with aminatou out. 5 to play... untap 5... float 5... flicker drake... untap 5... you now have 10 mana.

  • Ashen Rider have one me the game several times. If you can get the board state under control early with Aminatou out this become serious threats and with a flicker, each turn can really help maintain the control and build commander tax late game.

  • Torrential Gearhulk This is probably the card the puts the most work in the entire deck. The free cast from teh graveyard just makes the deck seem like its going off every turn.

  • Cloudblazer is a decent draw engine. he also become viable combo piece for infinite draw when you combo off and have infinite mana and need win cons.

  • Phantasmal Image This is a double edged sword. On one hand you can copy the ETB of an 6 or 8 cost creature for just 2 mana. On the other hand you can't longer flicker it because if you target it.. it dies. This does put in a lot of work especially since it can be pulled back from the graveyard with Sun Titan only to become a copy of it to pull back something else like animate dead to grab Torrential Gearhulk to play an instant for free.

  • Mirror Image Same as phantasmal image but can be targeted by Aminatou for that extra flicker.

  • Trinket Mage There is a decent number of 1 cmc artifacts in the deck and this can help you ramp up early.

  • Hostage Taker This is a solid way to steal things and make them yours. Play it... steal a Sol Ring and immediately play it and then flicker it to take a mana rock and then use their sol ring to pay for it. Not so good against commanders because you cant play a copy of it if they choose to move it to the command zone but everything else is pretty solid.

  • Sun Titan We are just going to abuse the crap out of this any time we can. There are a LOT of 3cmc or less things to pull back. This can also pull Aminatou back from the GY

  • Deadeye Navigator This gets pretty dumb pretty quick. This and Peregrine Drake go infinite then you can pair it to something else after you gain mana and do a lot of gross things.

  • Snapcaster Mage Low cost... Gives us access to spells in GY?... Sure

  • Archaeomancer This is handy to have around. Being able to pull back Rift or tutors when needed and multiple times is great.

  • Necromancy + Animate Dead are functional reprints with different CMC costs. They can be pulled with Sun Titan and with Zur the Enchanter to recur our ETB effects from the graveyard. Additionally if you pull it with a Sun Titan and you are about to attack with or copy the Sun Titan you can flicker the creature with Aminatou and the creature will no longer be bound by the enchantment sending the enchantment to the GY and allowing your next Zur or Sun titan trigger to have another useful target.

The deck doesnt rely heavily on combo so much as massive synergy. That being said it does win very often with combos that work because of other synergy. Peregrine Drake and Deadeye Navigator is a general goto for infinite mana and flickers of any other creatures. Once you have this you can flicker anything else in your hand or on the battlefield. Anything that does damage on etb wins the game. Anything that draws cards will draw your deck and even a flipped Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin can draw every nonland non creature from your deck leading you to another wincon. The same applies with Aminatou if you can get the feilidar combo online (see below) then you just essentially do the same thing with infinite mana and flickers.

  • Aminatou, the Fateshifter + Felidar Guardian + Oath of Teferi or The Chain Veil This is the dream combo. Felidar Guardian Flickers Aminatou, Oath of Teferi gives Aminatou an additional ability. So use the first flicker to flicker any permanent you own, and the second ability to flicker Felidar guardian. The guardian flickers Aminatou and it keeps going. It will immediately give you infinite mana because lands are targetable. This has MULTIPLE interactions in this deck... Such as;

  • Ashen Rider Exile all opponent permanents

  • Hierophant's Chalice for infinite damage
  • Gonti, Lord of Luxury exile all of your opponents library
  • Cloudblazer Infinite draw and life gain until you mill yourself to death and more. There should always be an infinite flicker combo available that can win you the game outright or at the very least put you in an overpowering state that wins you the game because no one else will be able to do anything.
  • Glacial Chasm Is simply amazing. Combined with Aminatou's ability to reset the cumulative upkeep every 3rd turn or so I was able to last an additional 10 turns against literally a 16,000 token army. The land sac becomes a hefty price the more you flicker it but it can buy you time to get answers.

  • Dark Depths I honestly put this card in the deck because i pulled an ultimate box topper version. This is my guilty pleasure. But in all honesty...Ive got this out and transformed so many times on turn 3 or 4 its definitely earned its spot in the deck for me.

  • Solemnity Keeps a lot of things from getting counters but doesnt effect planeswalkers. We dont run any other counters in the deck so this only hinders our opponents. This makes glacial chasm have no cumulative upkeep and makes Dark Depths immediately become a 20/20 indestructible flying creature. These interactions only work if these lands comes into play after solemnity... Solemnity doesnt remove counters only prevents them from being added

This combo is rough but it can win you the game and only needs 2 cards and 4 mana to pull off. Basically the set up is this...

If you have Aminatou, the Fateshifter on the board and you play Tezzeret the Seeker with 4 open colorless mana available....you just won the game!! Here is how it works.

  • -2 Tezzeret to search your library for Throne of Geth
  • -1 Aminatou to flicker Tezzeret to reset him to 4
  • Throne of Geth to bring Aminatou to 3 and Tezzeret to 5
  • -4 Tezzeret to search for The Cain Veil
  • to activate Chain Veil which will give you an additional activation for each planeswalker
  • -1 Aminatou to flicker Tezzeret and reset him to 4
  • -1 Tezzeret and search for Mana Vault (or 3 for Basalt Monolith )
  • The mana vault and float
  • +1 Tezzeret to Chain Veil and Mana vault
  • Mana Vault to float total mana and use to activate chain veil(2)
  • +1 Tezzeret to chain veil and mana vault.
  • mana vault to go to total mana and use to activate chain veil(3)
  • +1 Tezzeret to chain veil and mana vault.
  • mana vault to go to total mana and use to activate chain veil(4)
  • +1 Tezzeret to chain veil and mana vault.

Ok so now that we have made it this far you can see we have hit a kind of loop. We are gaining 3 Chain Veil activations per loop but we only have to use Aminatou 2 times to reset the loop and since those cancel out she will never drop to 0. Tezzeret is always going up so at this point he should be at 12 loyalty (10 if you went Basalt route)

Tezzeret has one activation left.

Aminatou however has 5 activations left to be used. Without killing her we can uptick her and down tick her 2 more times. with 1 activation left over.

So If you can explain all of this to your opponents you could say you are going to do this infinite times and then use infinite flicker with Aminatou on something that you have in play that could win you the game if flickered infinitely like Ashen Rider or Sunscorched Desert something like that.

if you do not have a flickerable target that wins you the game.. simply use Tezzeret to bring Baleful Strix into play then flicker it to draw your entire deck until you have any number of different wincons.
