Anowon demands a sacrifice to complete his sinister ritual! Vampires are my favorite tribe, so I built a commander deck for them.

Dictate of Erebos , Grave Pact , and Butcher of Malakir all help keep opposing armies numbers down while I'm sacrificing my own creatures.

Sacrifice Fodder

Reassembling Skeleton , Tenacious Dead , Pawn of Ulamog , Ophiomancer , and Bloodghast all provide great sacrifice fodder. Whenever I tutor if I've already gotten Cabal Coffers I will usually get Reassembling Skeleton , he's really that effective. Entomb is specifically in the deck for him and Bloodghast .

Sacrifice Engines

Viscera Seer , Pawn of Ulamog , Yahenni, Undying Partisan , Gate to Phyrexia , and Bloodthrone Vampire are my best engines cause they allow me to sacrifice without paying any mana. Other outlets include Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet , Indulgent Aristocrat , Kheru Bloodsucker , Skeletal Vampire , Vampire Hexmage , Vampiric Rites , and High Market .

The Perks of Death

With a commander that gets me free kills every turn it's important to have some triggers, often multiple triggers each turn.

  1. Good stuff happens when my creatures die: Kalastria Highborn along with my sacrifice and Grave Pact -type cards.

  2. Good stuff happens when my opponent's creatures die: Malakir Cullblade , Yahenni, Undying Partisan , Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet , and Sangromancer .

  3. Good stuff happens when ANY creature dies: Blood Artist , Falkenrath Noble , Cordial Vampire , Blade of the Bloodchief , and Shadows of the Past .

Token Weakness

A common deck-type this deck does not do well against is tokens, Ascendant Evincar and Blood Seeker help combat these decks.

Win Conditions

The deck usually wins in one of two ways.

  1. My general combined with my other means of creature removal leaves my opponents with no blockers and my army just swings in.

  2. Drain opponents with Sanguine Bond or Defiant Bloodlord combined with Exquisite Blood or Blood Tribute .
