Arahbo's Feline Superiority

Commander / EDH*

specter_fanatic13

Do you like adorable kittens? Ferocious jungle cats? Scary man lions that can rip people to shreds or build you a really nice hammer? Then this is the deck for you! Coming at you today, I've put together a nasty little piece of work modified from the precon, newly dubbed "Feline Superiority" because as we all know, cats are better than everything else(especially dogs, am I right cat lovers?).

This deck has one purpose in life and that is to put up one kitty into a gigantic ball of furry fury to smash people in the face. You remeber Xenagos, God of Revels? Like that, but with less sissy satyrs and more ticked off tigers (Disclaimer: This deck does mostly runs lions/leonin)

The game plan is simple, play a couple early game cats and harass the strongest player (You know the type, that jerk that always spend a gazillion dollars on making sure he has Doubling Season in every deck he owns.) Pick your battles and try to either position yourself to be the guy to take down the "threat" or ramp up and act innocuous. Hungry Lynx might be better suited to going tall with cats, but he's a neat little political tool and at the very least, he can get fat by himself. Stalking Leonin is also a good little tool, allowing you to take some heat off yourself, and even better with Temur Sabertooth or Whitemane Lion. After ramping for a bit and doing some damage, you should be in a good spot to win. The key is to hit one of your big mana making spells like Traverse the Outlands. I am not joking when I say I've used that card to play every basic land in my deck.

Once you've gotten enough mana to start dropping and equipping, look at the board. If possible, kill the guy that can disrupt your plans the best, like that jerk that hard locks the field or the combo player who's been drawing cards all game. It's VERY important to stick to killing one person unless someone else gets on top. This deck can punch one person really, REALLY hard, but it's not Krenko, Mob Boss it can't kill everyone at once...well not as easily. Go through the table and try to knock off the strongest players, especially if they run cards that either make you sac creatures or make it impossible to attack late game.

DO NOT be afraid to board wipe! This deck is very resilient, it takes a lot for it to get screwed by a board wipe, unless it clears everything out. Once you hit late game, you should be able to turn any kitty into a guided missile that can wipe out an opponent, while using your backup heavy hitters to block or harass anyone other than the main target. Simple plan right?

As a side note, kitties with flash are very powerful. It's sort of pseudo haste, pseudo removal protection. I've won games by dropping an Alms Collector after a wipe, then shoved all my equips on him and punching someone in the face. Always keep that in mind.

Now that you know what to do, tweak your own Arahbo build, go out there and show the world your roar!

Updates Add

-Sword of the Animist + Godsend A large buff AND it exiles whatever blocks it? Really nasty with trample. I might find a way to put animist back in, but honestly I like my ramp to not require my dude to attack. -Hungry Lynx +Lost Leonin This deck really wants to go tall. Lynx is a super cute card, but it just doesn't work that great in here. Lost Leonin can straight up pile drive people, stealing a win from nowhere.

Note: My group house rules infect as 20 counters, so Leonin is really strong with Arahbo and double strike, but not as backbreaking as he could be.
