keep in mind that phantasmal image gains the cmc of whatever its copying and that since sacrificing it is part of the cost of birthing pod and it doesnt target you can sac it to pod up. ex copy thragtusk - gain 5 - sac to birthing pod - get a 3/3 - search for sun/frost/primeval titan.

The 1 of primal surge is kind of hilarious since its the only non permanent spell in the deck so you can play cards off the top of your deck until you a) reveal a venser with one already on the board, or b) decide you have put enough cards into play.
