This is what my main deck looks like in it's current state. I'm not going to list a Maybeboard for this one because I change it constantly to try out different strategies I have. For instance, sometimes I'll dual wield Heliod, God of the Sun and Purphoros, God of the Forge and use both their artifact weapons. Other times I'll put in a lot of creatures with Heroic effects and add more cards to trigger them. The basics of the deck usually stay the same though--lots of removal and creatures with strong effects.
One of my favorite combinations in here is
Fabled Hero
and
Madcap Skills
. By turn four, it's possible for me to have a 6/3 Double Strike creature who can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.
I sometimes consider
Warleader's Helix
, but I think
Spark Trooper
gets the same job done a little better for the same mana cost.
I have a few enchantments that make my creatures harder to deal with and to trigger Heroic effects. In particular, using Boros Reckoner with Gift of Immortality or
Indestructibility
is a good way to stonewall an opponent. Holy Mantle can be frightening since a creature can't be blocked and can't take damage from attacking creatures (helpful against both Deathtouch and Trample), and it's particularly deadly when combined with Vigilance, whether that's through Angelic Skirmisher, Anax and Cymede, or Heliod, God of the Sun.
Gideon, Champion of Justice
tends to be more of a distraction to guard my life than anything, but I do like using him for the occasional board wipe. If he pumps up to 8 or 10 loyalty, he also works really well with Aurelia, the Warleader.
On occasion, sacrificing a Boros Reckoner or two using Anger of the Gods can wreak havoc on foes, especially if they have creatures with a lot of toughness.
Like I said, this deck changes pretty regularly to emphasize different strategies, but that pretty much covers the basics of how it works. As of right now, this is the base I work off of for the decks I play and what I consider building.
