Another devoid only Eldrazi themed deck I've recently been working on. The deck has a sort of pseudo ramp into giant Eldrazi strategy, but is by no means useless if it doesn't ramp out. I used what I consider an aggressive Eldrazi shell as the starting point, and worked outwards from there. The shell I refer to is what I call the Eldrazi power 4: Eldrazi Mimic, Matter Reshaper, Thought-Knot Seer, and Reality Smasher. This shell allows me to build a surprisingly consistent gimic deck, purely because these cards I feel perform well in just about any deck you put them in. My ramp cards of choice are admittedly unconventional, but work well against the majority of meta decks I've tested with thus far. The cards are as follows: Hedron Crawler, Catacomb Sifter, From Beyond and Conduit of Ruin. They are by no means the best ramp in the format, but they work plenty well enough to get to my big scary creatures faster. The rest of my choices are more preference than anything, but give the deck my own flavor that fits my playstyle and proves my tendency to brew with less than optimal choices in standard (for the same reasons). These cards are Visions of Brutality, Bearer of Silence, Smothering Abomination, and Inverter of Truth. Visions of Brutality and Bearer of Silence acts as this deck's removal of sorts. Smothering Abomination and Inverter of Truth are in here as one-offs purely because I like the cards, and they perform well in the majority of games I've played. There's even a neat little looping draw combo with Smothering Abomination as long as there's a From Beyond out. The cards I've chosen to ramp into however are very powerful cards that need little explanation: World Breaker and Kozilek, the Great Distortion. The reason I've chosen Kozilek over Ulamog is simple; in a deck with little to no card draw, the hand refresh from Kozilek coupled with it's ability to counter spells using said cards will close out games all the same. It's also a matter of preference, because I will admit that Ulamog would be just as good if not better in the slot.
So, that about wraps it up as far as overall deck strategy and card choice is concerned.
I encourage anyone looking to build something fun and unconventional to try this at your local fnm. I think you'll find that the list is surprisingly competitive in the current meta, and the deck is honestly a ton of fun to play in my experiences with it this far.
+1 if you welcome our new Eldrazi Overlords, or if you just like the deck. ;D
