this is my take on mono black devotion with a splash of red. my first night using it at ,FnM I went 3 -1 against mono-black devotion, red-burn tier-1 decks and espers. This deck works. Just make sure you have atleast three mana in your hand or you're screwed haha. the mechanics are simple,1. Destroy temples or shock lands, or save Contaminated Ground for things like Chained to the Rocks. 2. Stop life gain while using defense with haste or death touch early on. 3. Force creatures off the board with Desecration Demon or use and abuse with Nightveil Specter. 4. The gods work in obviouse favors if you can keep them out, while using Devour Flesh, Hero's Downfall, Doom Blade, and Dark Betrayal to keep big guys at bay. 5. Gary, the Gray Merchant of Asphodel with heavy hit of 11+ thanks to devotion. Turn 5 I have hit with gary for 12 devotion attack and life gain. He's a serious player In this deck along with other conditions. I use multiple w/c. Never relying on just one. This deck beats mono black devo, espers, burn and green. Immortal Servitude plays a huge role in side bar, especially againts burn amd control. The only suggestions I could use for other players is maybe sideboarding Elixer of immortality for a different edge. That wasa suggestion from a blue control player.....note only a suggestion, after I beat him.
