Black can be a b*tch to play against at times. This takes it a step further. Very few creatures, lots of answers, and enough mono-black control to make you cry tears of joyous evil.

The main idea is to deny your opponent everything: Creatures, life, choices, and eventually, fun. All the while, you build up the pressure, gain life and wait until you have the cards you need to wipe everyone out.

Combos/Synergy:

Staff of Domination + Magus of the Coffers = Infinite mana.

Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond = Douchey insta-kill.

Leyline of the Void / Bojuka Bog + Ill-Gotten Gains = I get cards back you don't.

Necropotence + Venser's Journal = Nearly free card draw.

Win Cons:

Exsanguinate; Gen damage with Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief; a large board-wipe with Dingus Staff or Massacre Wurm out; Thrashing Wumpus (even better with Whip of Erebos out); Exquisite Blood/Sanguine Bond; and pretty much anything with Wound Reflection

But of course, the main idea of this deck is control. Glorious, mono-black, unfair control:

Opponent's turn: Draws a card, loses 1 life to Underworld Dreams. Plays a land, loses 2 life to Polluted Bonds, you gain 2. If Infernal Darkness isn't out, then they get to play spells! Plays a creature. Discards card to Painful Quandrary. You gain 3 life from Sangromancer. They lose 1 life to Blood Seeker. Thinks hard, decides to sacrifice a land to Tainted AEther. They lose 2, you gain 2 with Bloodchief Ascension. They go all in and decide to attack you. Lose 1 life to Blood Reckoning. Dies to Dread. They lose 2 life from Massacre Wurm, 1 life each from Blood Artist, another 2 from Dingus Staff and 2 from Bloodchief Ascension, and you gain 4 life, plus another 3 from Sangromancer. They end their turn, and take an extra 15 damage from Wound Reflection.

And that's an average turn if you've gotten your mana-base sorted. With your board-wipes and spot-removal, they'll most likely never get a creature out. And if they're foolish enough to play one and attack with it, you'll more often than not, come out with more life and them with less, than if they'd done nothing at all. Congrats, your playgroup now hates you.

*Note - Will be swapping out Blood Reckoning for Hissing Miasma when I get one (cheaper and just as good), and Price of Knowledge will be coming out for Ward of Bones when I get one (the lack of creatures will make this card a beast)

*Note on Sideboard - With the recent Grixis Commander decks having come out, I found Nekusar, the Mindrazer + Spiteful Visions were a real problem, often pinging me for 6+ damage a draw phase. Necropotence is great, but against Grixis decks, Words of Waste is very good (especially in conjunction with Sangromancer) at preventing this damage in a pinch and removing their hands at the same time.
