Okay, i've made this deck after being well... Inspired by Mono-W Weenie from Standard and Soul Sisters from Modern. But well, when I've started brewing this deck I've found myself stuck with some troubles:
1)Well, there is not a lot of card advantage in pauper for Mono-W
2)Well, it is kinda hard to deal with...
Moment's Peace
3)Big creatures can beat us even faster that we can. Usually...
Well, I've actually tried doing Azorius Weenie for some counterspells and card advantage, but it was until I saw a card that actually can be pretty strong in Weenie/Token decks -
Harsh Sustenance
- 3 CMC spell that can:
1)Deal buttload of damage to our opponent
2)Save some time providing healing
3)Be a nice removal spell if opponent has a huge threat.
Well, but except for that, this deck actually has some other nice black cards both in sideboard and mainboard.
There are
Read the Bones
and
Chainer's Edict
in mainboard which are card advantage and "big threat removals" respectively.
Actually this deck couldn't be done without some cool cards from MH1, for an example
Martyr's Soul
, which is actually great card for this deck and kinda
Gurmag Angler
for white. But the main fact, that it is decent second/third turn block fodder 3/2 or great third(or later) 5/4 beater. Also, this deck runs a single copy of
Answered Prayers
, which is actually acts as an another
Soul Warden
/
Soul's Attendant
, but it is enchantment/3/3 Flying creature. With help of cards in this deck it can be a surprise blocker/evasive beater.
Okay, as for a sideboard it has mostly everything that you need to have to answer for an opponent's deck:
1)Graveyard hate in face of
Bojuka Bog
2)
Pay No Heed
from different sorts of things, starting with sudden
Rolling Thunder
and ending with big strike from an
Gurmag Angler
3)
Echoing Decay
to save yourself against mirror matchups(well, I've tried
Nausea
styled cards, but actually,
Echoing Decay
can also kill Delvers/
Mulldrifter
s with ease.
4)
Lumithread Field
this one is actually can save you from being wiped with an Electrotrickery(but actually can't save from being wiped by two of them)
5)
Patrician's Scorn
is so sweet against Bogles and all kind of enchantment cards
AND FINALLY, ON OUR SIDEBOARD LIST, WE HAVE ULTIMATE CARD, ACTUALLY OUR SAVIOR:
Dash Hopes
. Yeah,
Dash Hopes
. You might think that it is bad card, because it lets opponent choose from two options, but actually... Both options are broken from my point of view. Okay, those two options are:
1)Opponent loses 5 damage and counters
Dash Hopes
2)Opponent doesn't lose 5 damage and
Dash Hopes
counters target spell.
Okay, lets start from first option. That's literally 5 damage to our opponent with 2 CMC Spell. Let's compare that with... well... another 2 CMC Spell damage dealing cards. First one that comes to mind is
Lightning Strike
. It deals 3 damage to any target. It is actually better than 5 damage STRAIGHT into face, but usually, decks which run that kind of cards try to deal more damage straight into face into short amounts of time. Second card that could be compared to this is
Boros Charm
- It deals 4 damage. But it gives us another options(one of which is indestructible for your things, which is actually great). But well, damage can be prevented, and
Boros Charm
is two-colored, so actually... It is... worse than
Dash Hopes
in terms of dealing face damage.
Okay, I've decided that it isn't that bad, if opponent chooses first option. But what about second option? It is literally a
Counterspell
. Same cost(but with black mana instead of blue). But also, it is better than another classy option in WB colors -
Mana Tithe
. And well. That's super cool.
Now, that I want to say that this deck is actually pretty new and still in development, so I want to hear your feedback on it.
And well, it isn't actually expensive - it costs around 3 tix in MtGO and around 40$ on paper. So you can try playing with this deck in your playgroup, if you really want to.
