Blackjack, the Blitzing Grave

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari) Multiplayer

SuperAshura

So you know what I love about Commander? All of its rules that make it different from normal Magic are there to enforce a game that allows you to play however you like to play, build however you like to build, and really just make the game as personally fun as you want it to be. However, the nature of a gamer doesn't let that just stay that way for long. Gamers by their very natures exploit a given system until there is only one "correct" way to do things. Magic is generally resistant to this, but it still doesn't take long for the masses to reach consensus. In Commander the consensus seems to be tutoring for infinite combos and ways to protect that combo, because nuclear arms races are a known good time for everyone involved, right? Anyway, one of the major differences from normal Magic is the Commander Damage rule, and it seems to have fallen by the wayside in most games. Understandably so, Commander's a multiplayer format, so an aggro strategy is already at a disadvantage before accounting for the political factors and the starting life total of 40... or is it? The first three-to-five turns of your average Commander game usually involve durdling and getting set up for the Quick Draw at High Noon that's about to ensue. So this deck plays a different game, it comes in early, punches hard, and capitalizes on anyone that lets their guard down for even a second. The name of this game: Blackjack.
