Blood of ThuneKenneth "Wind" Spaziani (Wind0wned) brings you a deck that is centered around Black White, Lifelink, Extortion, Copy Effect and Crowd Control - Allowing you to bring any opponent to a swift and satisfying demise. All the foil is to add the "Bling" Factor to such an awesome deck. ;)
-----Example of
Strionic Resonator
's benefit with Sanguine Bond while using the "Blood of Thune" deck------ Lets start like this....- Now lets tap our mana to bring out the
Strionic Resonator
for Epic Double Effects to Sanguine Bond- the next photo shows "what it means"- it means EPIC GG!! but what if we go another round?- it means GG Wind0wned See you next week!
-------How to play this deck--------Early draws obviously go towards Tithe Drinker and
High Priest of Penance
, along with our Basilic Screecher (all are 2 pools) - this allows us to begin to take away from our opponent using the Basilic Screecher and Tithe Drinker Extortion, while the priest becomes an automatic scare to the opponent due to his Destroy target nonland perm if he is dealt damage. Now with the Tithe Drinker it may be the first THE life link card you have out; thus the extortion is netting you 1 life each time, and he is a 2/1 with extortion netting you life; while the Basilic Screecher is a 1/2 flier netting you life via extort and being a surprise early flier as it may not pull often due to the 2 count in the deck.
At this point the game can easily begin to become yours - You have Doom Blade for a one swamp one mana kill nonblack creature and Ultimate Price (for that exact same 2 pool cost) to take out target monocolor creature; the two vampire nighthawks become instant targets due to death-touch, flying, lifelink- thus if your opponent has spells to take it out; I suggest using a singular plain mana and dropping a Silence down.
Also on the Extortion 2 mana cost are the 3 Blind Obediences ; an amazing card which cause all artifacts and creatures to come in tapped; and it also has extortion - This allows you to keep extorting; force your opponent to bring even hasted enemies in tapped so you may dig into them with the life linkers as you lay down another card and take advantage of each extortion card out - just this way a game "Could" be won... but thats not the fun of the deck; nor "How it ends up really working" nor is it built to center around just that idea -
The main important cards in the deck that create amazing synergy to occur (Aside from extortion synergy) I'd say would be Archangel of Thune , Sanguine Bond ,
Fiendslayer Paladin
, and
Strionic Resonator
, along with a close second place for the cards Debt to the Deathless ,
Crypt Incursion
and Crypt Ghast .
Why only 2 Sanguine Bond if that is the kicker? - We have 2
Strionic Resonator
. If we draw 1 Sanguine Bond; and 1 Strionic Resonators; we copy the resonator and have 2 Sanguine Bond out doubling the Whenever you gain life, target opponent loses that much life - if we have two bonds out and two generators - nearly any damage from a few extortion cards or one attack with a swing from a few life linkers will be game over - especially while using Archangel of Thune ,
Fiendslayer Paladin
cannot be a target of red or black spells that my enemy controls (thus its fine to buff him) He continues Lifelink; and ends up being the only First Strike card in the deck - he is our main brawler when it ends up needed; and the enemy cannot touch our Archangel of Thune as each swing we gain +1 and +1 counters to all creatures as we gain life with our very sexy Archangel of Thune (crazy).
Let's say we are extorting, silencing, the creatures are coming in tapped; and all the sudden we have a few bad rounds after some sort of board wipe; - then suddenly we draw a Crypt Ghast or Two; we use
Immortal Servitude
to bring back X from graveyard to the battlefield; as everytime a swamp is used by Crypt Ghast ; you gain a Swamp mana to replace it (allowing for insane spells to be casted under the X column) -
This is rarely the need for Crypt Ghast - Reason being the card is basically a 2/2 that generates extra mana as you use mana. (seXXXy) which very easily and most quickly be of use as extra mana for the extort ability on the majority of cards in play at this time. and attacking as a 2/2 (Yeah; - when you start bringing out multiple things just due to having Crypt Ghast your opposing player will be quite frustrated - it doesn't need to go this far though; and thats the beauty of this deck - so lets get down to it.
Lets say we have one Crypt Ghast out, 1 Archangel of Thune, 1-2
Fiendslayer Paladin
, one Blood Baron of Vizkopa whom is a !! threat !! , and the opposing player knows the whole "Lifelink!!! Extortion!!!! OMFG!!!! I'm getting Wind0wned!!!" Part of the situation - Looking over to our creatures they will know that soon Blood Baron of Vizkopa will become a 10/10 flier that still has life-link. - thats our creature side which may seem intimidating to most decks - now if we at the minimum have one Sanguine Bond out; then cast Debt to the Deathless using Crypt Ghast to aid in the Swamp mana for X - thats Each opponent loses two times X life, you gain life equal to the life lost this way; Sanguine Bond triggers that whenever you gain life the target loses this much; thus the target loses double the amount of health he would have - normally I hit for around 4-6; one sang its 8-12; Sanguine Bond and a
Strionic Resonator
its 16-24, two Sanguine Bonds' and a singular
Strionic Resonator
s' hits 32-48 two Sanguine Bonds' and
Strionic Resonator
s' (laughs) - does enough damage to make Richard Garriot laugh hesterically screaming "Wind0wned!!! Doom n Thune; wiped by Ken Spaz's Blood of Thune deck! -high fiver to Garriot!-
Lets say you do not draw Debt to the Deathless ; you are getting creatures killed left and right; but you have Blind Obedience out; you extorted a few times; he/she has used abilities against you to gain some Life as well as you lose life - you are waiting for draws? Nah! You have Sanguine Bond out!!!! (four !!!!'s for added emphasize of the excitement.
Perhaps dupe Sanguine Bond using copy with the
Strionic Resonator
Now you are tasting how sweet this deck is at this point for 3 mana you are able to play
Crypt Incursion
(lulz) Game Over. - Exile all creature cards from target graveyard, you gain !!!3!!! LIFE for EACH CARD exiled this way; thus if 5 creatures of your deck happened to bite it; that is 15 life gained; which means with Sanguine Bond ; you gain the 15 - he/she loses 15; with it copied you gain 30 he/she loses 30 - and if they did get you low with life-link and that leaves them with 4-5 health; its only a 3 mana card use the rest to pay for extortions which then get doubled (it will be 1 life gain per extort, but 2 lost due to Sanguine Bond, 4 lost if copied or two in play, (keep multiplying by each copied verison or card of it out)
Also in the scenario you are up against another thirsty blood drinker... - if you have the Blood Baron of Vizkopa out or can get him out while using that
Crypt Incursion
15 life from 5 creatures in graveyard doubled to 30 with Sanguine Bond Copied then BOOM - Blood Baron of Vizpoka becomes a 10/10 with flying, keeps his lifelink and Sanguine Bond still will continue to double, triple or quadruple his attack due to the lifelink (wink wink dink dink wind0wned)
This may sound complicated our out there with the variables and possibilities - and also I apologize for not being able to post the sideboard at the moment (quickly to say it has the other Silence card which (trust me) becomes quite the savior at times with this deck; other times its not needed one slight bit along with the other Doom Blade, 3x
Imposing Soverign
's incase (to replace Blind Obedience when Extortion is unable to occur or be effective due to an aggro-enchantment first match; you now have 3 creature cards with the same tapping ability for crowd control; but lose some extortion; and is slightly more mostly thus you cannot get it out on the second turn (Blind Obedience excels when it comes out turn 2-4) -
I will update this later; I know the deck has 64 cards. It is part of the synergy and I wouldn't change it even when I've never played or build a different deck with out exactly 60 cards in standard since late 4th edition.
- hope this first post of my build "Blood of Thune" "Thune's Blood Tomb" "Doom and Thune" (several other deck names I give it depending on if I add or subtract even a land type from the sideboard and mainboard.
Go destroy everyone guided by the wings of an angel with the thirst of a vampire tomorrow night with this deck; and get it ALL in foil; impress your ENEMY. Fiendslayer Paladin is one SEXY Foil.
