This deck is my pride and joy. I've always loved combos but I like when everyone else gets to play and straight combo decks often go too quick for other people to play. By using pillow fort tactics I can draw out a game and protect my synergies and combo pieces. If you have suggestions for life gain or pillows I'm always tinkering. I'm keeping a semi-budget on this deck of no more than ~$50 per card which means I'm open to everything except the truly ridiculous!

If you like the deck I would really appreciate an upvote so more people can find the deck easier!

This deck started with Queen Marchesa who had some cool synergies with cards like Chandra's Ignition and Solitary Confinement. However, she offered little in the way of resilience for any important pieces in the deck. Enter Ghen, Arcanum Weaver, Ghen gives this deck the resilience it needs to keep its feet under it. Instead of getting knocked down by 3 or 4 destroy enchant effects.

Ghen swaps one enchantment in play for another that is in my graveyard. This allows for some fun interactions with enchantments that I'd normally ignore like Treacherous Blessing. It will give me 3 cards and then it really only has downsides normally. With Ghen it draws 3 then turns into any number of fun enchantments and could come back to draw another 3 later on. Additionally sagas and curses can be used over and over again.

This is likely my strongest manabase of any deck. You can go through the basics and mana making non-basics if you'd like. I think all the choices made for those are pretty straight forward. I'll touch on the more interesting choices.

Arcane Lighthouse removes protections so I can get rid of pesky cards my opponents want to keep safe.

Blood Funnel this is the first time I might have built a deck where this could work. I'm not sure as of yet but I want to test it out. There should be plenty of token making in the deck to support it though and cost reduction is very strong.

Curse of Opulence just making special mention of it as I can bring it back when destroyed or if the player it enchants loses the game. It also adds a little incentive to attack that person.

Mana Flare has less of a downside here than it does in other decks that could play it imo. Normally you don't get to choose if an opponent gets to have this effect or not. With Ghen I do.

Mistveil Plains is a way to pull back things that are not enchantments.

Reliquary Tower because Reliquary Tower

Revel in Riches if ever there is a deck that could win with this card I feel like this is it. Also just good mana production.

Rogue's Passage because Rogue's Passage

Shiny Impetus is a card I wanted to experiment with. I'm hoping it will work as removal of a sort and mana production. Double duty cards are always awesome.

Smothering Tithe adds some more treasures for a potential revel win or just for casting more things.

Treasure Map   doubles as card selection and potentially card draw.

Vault of the Archangel is a pretty awesome combat trick to pull off.

Pillow fort is a fun strategy for me but there are a number of things to know in order to make a good pillow fort deck. Most important is that pillows don't win games. Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts could win a game eventually but you should put Argentum Armor on her at the very least. So before you go putting your pillow fort deck together figure out some manner of winning. I like to combo or gain life with Test of Endurance while I pillow since the pillows keep my life total high and can protect combo pieces.

You should also be aware that there are two major different kinds of pillows. Ones that stop only creatures like Maze of Ith and ones that stop all damage like Glacial Chasm. You will want both for a good pillow fort deck but you need to make sure that you have both. Things that give you hexproof or shroud like Orbs of Warding are surprisingly powerful against commanders like Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind.

Life loss can be an issue too. I gain life with this deck so it usually isn't too much of an issue but Platinum Angel and Platinum Emperion are great ways to deal with life loss.

Speaking of Platinum Angel she has this magical text "You can't lose the game and your opponents can't win the game." The only other card with that text is Gideon of the Trials. These are able to stop things like Laboratory Maniac and Test of Endurance which can be incredibly hard to stop normally. Though they tend to get everyone's attention so you need ways to protect them and yourself when using them.

The deck is designed to win either through one of the combos or through burning/draining life away through cards like Painful Quandary and Manabarbs. This strategy will annoy everyone at the table so you will need to defend yourself with pillows and that is why I have combined the two. That said even having grabbed everyone's attention I still find ways to win. Some of those wins are from Repercussion + Blasphemous Act but others come from people playing cards while I have Kaervek the Merciless. Overall the strategy is surprisingly effective and even when I lose I have usually hurt everyone's life totals enough to effect the game. Basically losing doesn't always feel bad.
