Blue Devotion

Standard

Coneman93

Sideboard

Enchantment (2)

Artifact (3)

Basically the aggro-control hybrid I wanted when I began playing MTG 2 years ago. I only ever played briefly for Innistrad block, but then came back for the Theros Block, and the Blue Devotion archetype was the one I chose.

While I still have some improvement to do as a player as far as my own choices in-game go, I can say that this deck is a bit of a monster, and it can hold its own against the best decks out there (in the Standard format of course.

The basic premise of the deck is to control the board state with durable low-drops, fliers, and some of the interesting abilities that blue creatures provide( EX: Judge's Familiar, Tidebinder Mage, Nightveil Specter), and then close with Thassa, God of the Sea, Master of Waves, and, in the case of my deck variant, AEtherling. Generally this means that you can stall out other aggro decks with your more durable creatures, and then outswing them with your multitude of threats, which is only aided by the drawing power you get from Bident of Thassa.

I am not going to get into specific details about pacing the deck, combos, etc because I'd rather people figured it out themselves, and I'm pretty certain that if you're playing standard you've seen a variant of this deck, so I'm not gonna waste any more time on this.
