Blue/Green MONSTERS

Standard GU (Simic)

Sideboard

R/G Monsters is a pretty popular deck, with the guns to back it up. U/G Monsters compensates for what is lacked by red with blue. Play some mana dorks, and end up with an impressive board of threats with card draw built in.

Creature Breakdown

Elvish Mystic- Chief mana dork. Drops on turn 1-3 and generates mana for the bomb drops needed to win games.

Kiora's Follower- 2 drop version of Elvish Mystic. Kiora's Follower is slightly better than the mystic because of the ability to untap any permanent, not just gaining green mana.

Renegade Krasis- This guy is a little bit smaller than the other beasts that drop onto the board, but when his friends Master Biomancer and Kalonian Hydra show up the party gets started.

Courser of Kruphix- A 2/4 body for three that gains life, evolves Renegade Krasis, and thins out unnecessary land draws. One of the best creatures in all of standard green.

Deadbridge Goliath - Lets be realistic here, nobody in constructed standard ever gets off the monstrosity of Polukranos, World Eater. He gets killed and then its all over. At least with Deadbridge Goliath , scavenge comes into play.

Master Biomancer- The biggest weapon U/G has over the R/G version of Monsters. Everybody comes in huge, and doubles in power with Kalonian Hydra and Renegade Krasis.

Prophet of Kruphix- The ability to play creatures on your turn and your opponent's turn is just cruel. Prophet of Kruphix is an absolute crisis for the opponent if left on the table, taking some pressure off of Kalonian Hydra or Master Biomancer.

Kalonian Hydra- One of the deck's biggest players. Every single creature will become an immanent threat if they have the two counters from Master Biomancer. This combo makes the late game Kiora's Follower into a fine beat stick.

Prime Speaker Zegana- Card draw and a very, very huge drop later in the game. Just be careful not to draw out the entire deck, especially against the recent Phenax, God of Deception mill defenders.

Non-Creature Spells Breakdown

Bred for the Hunt - Excellent card drawing to refill your hand and repopulate the board on the opponent's turn.

Bident of Thassa - Card drawing power AND the ability to force an attack into a full army with Prophet of Kruphix.

Bow of Nylea - Nice utility card that can combo with Kiora's Follower very nicely, either gaining 6 life or grabbing 2 counters.
