Sideboard

Midrange deck I made with artifact creatures, used mostly white with a splash of black. Not the first deck I came up with but it's the first deck I made and developed completely on my own. The deck was called 'Catfinity' for a long time before I came up with the current name.

Leonin Elder gave me the idea for the deck. That 1 life/etb eventually makes a difference (and it also triggers when my opponent plays an artifact). Below I've written down the deck's history and I linked a version I made for Pauper.

2015-2017: I was introcuded to MtG via kitchentable magic.

2017-2019: We made lots of new decks with a friend, but this wasn't one of them, I made this "on the side", from cards I already had at home. I remember finding Lenonin Elder and Hunger of the Nim and Darksteel Citadel and getting the idea for this deck. I kept developing it and it became the first deck I completely owned. Chief of the Foundry was the first playset I tried to find for it and eventually I did.

2019-2021: We played less and because I got addicted to the game I started playing Pauper, still as a brewer. After playing the format for a while I realized that this deck could have a Pauper version with some modifications. So I bought 2 more Leonin Elders (this version doesn't need 4 but a Pauper version does) and other cards for it. That's when I got the Mirrodin artifact lands too. I only played that version once but I kept the artifact lands in the deck. That was when Mukotai Ambusher was introduced too. When MH2 came out, it got a playset of Goldmire Bridge as well.

2021-2024: I played the deck when I could, with small upgrades every once in a while.

2024: My brewing years in Pauper were nearing their end. I grew tired of it as the format got more and more competitive. I knew some new cards since trying this deck in Pauper the last time, so, as "one last ride" I decided to rebrew it and play it in November as my last homebrew Pauper deck. Refurbished Familiar was the card that made me consider a Pauper version again. It was fun but not very succesful. This is how that competitive version looked: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/body-brothers-dead-deck-1/

I also didn't know about Glaze Fiend the last time, which is a must have in a deck like this and Mandible Justiciar came out since then too. The name 'Body Brothers' came to me when I realised that this was an artifact version of the 'Soul Sister's decks (in which Cleric creature's abilities trigger when creatures etb, while here creatures trigger when artifacts etb. Soul Sisters -> Body Brothers, get it?) and I liked this new name better than 'Catfinity'.

When the new Pauper version's career was over it was time to rebuild this version. But I didn't make it exactly the same, the Pauper version influenced this version too. I wanted to keep some of the "artifact etb" stuff from that gameplay. I didn't want to keep Refurbished Familiar because it doesn't fit the kitchentable version, it's either too OP or too weak. But I definitely wanted to keep Glaze Fiend and Mandible Justiciar, but only as 2ofs. Pierce Strider was a 4of but it became a 2of too. Decided that 19 lands were enough and that the deck won't have basic lands any more. Took out one of the two boardwipes. With the changes the deck is somewhat more agressive now.

I started to make sideboards for new casual decks I made in 2024. Only for new decks; with the exception of this one. This deck was in Pauper like some of those new casual decks, so it too earned a little sideboard; 3 cards remaining from the pauper weeks plus a new one.

Now the deck has it's new name and it's final form. My good old Catfinity / Body Brothers deck, still here after all these years, having gone through some changes but always keeping the same spirit.
