Took first at FNM and 5th at game day today, had a feeling that woul happen as I want the game day mat, although I did pull a Thoughtseize, purphoros, Master of Waves, an Stormbreath Dragon so I can't really complain. I will be trying a different deck for game day 2 tomorrow tho, I am definitely happy with how this plays.
If you are in a meta where people will be copying decks from the pro tour, like the mono blue that was seen in 3 of the top 4 decks, then this is a pretty good answer. You can see I've been working on this deck since just before Pro Tour Theros started, and the deck is quite similiar to Mihara's deck which was the other deck to finish top 4, I built it with no Xenagos, the Reveler and with a few extra threats instead of ramp, as I thought 8 was enough, but hey, I'm just a random deck builder and he top 4'd a huge Pro Tour.
I do find it funny though that I built such a sick list, and it isn't getting upvotes from anyone while I'm watching other extort and "fun" decks that won't win a game barely get all the votes. Maybe I'm too competitive, who knows, but I do play to win.
Mono green beat down / devotion deck. This deck really wants to utilize Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to get ahead of opponents to the point where it's too hard to catch up.
I haven't done too much testing yet, but I will be over the next little while to see what tweaks can be made, and with the sideboard. However, the few matches I did play the deck is very powerful and can lead to some crazy big blowouts!
Arbor Colossus - Good devotion feeder and solid creature, also takes care of Stormbreath Dragon via blocking or monstrous.
Voyaging Satyr - Having 20+ mana on turn 5, or 6 can get pretty ridiculous.
Burning-Tree Emissary - Laying a BTE and using the 2 mana from him into a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for a bunch of mana to play a bomb or 2 is nothing short of awseome.
Elvish Mystic - Fast green ramp, yes please.
[domri rade]] - Amazing planeswalker especially on turn 2, can be hard to deal with and his ultimate just wins game.
Kalonian Hydra - He just wins games if they can't interact within 2 turns.
Nylea, God of the Hunt - The reason we want devotion, get her online, and Nykthos can provide mana for multiple boosts.
Polukranos, World Eater - 5/5 for four that takes out 1-3 creatures when he goes monstrous, I like! Especially good since a ping for 1 takes care of Master of Waves and his cohorts, which I've done numerous times since yesterday.
Scavenging Ooze - Always a solid green creature, and having more that can come in from BTE is always a good thing.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - Amazing land that can produce obscene amounts of mana!
Sideboard:
Pithing Needle - AEtherling, Jace, Architect of Thought, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Domri Rade, Chandra, Pyromaster...Ya, 'nuff said.
Mistcutter Hydra - Can destroy blue based control on his own, although he's not that strong against Esper.
Nylea's Disciple - Comes in against faster decks to aid in recovery and stabilization.
Windstorm - Not sure if I like this or not, but if a deck arises with multiple fliers the amount of mana this deck produces will certainly wipe them out, not to mention it kills Prognostic Sphinx.
Fade into Antiquity - While more expensive and slower then Naturalize, being able to take out God's is quite relevant potentially.
Mizzium Mortars - While this can't kill the Master of Waves it can sure wipe out all of his tokens.
Ranger's Guile - To stop spot removal for a blow out.
