Last week the newer more aggressive build worked out, giving me a 4-0 victory and taking the night. I'm tired and i still have an FNM in just a few short hours to get to, so i'll make it brief.
First round was against an American Flash/Midrange variant. Tried to play tempo with me, first game he was mana screwed and lost. Second game he had every answer to my threats he could need and controlled me for the win. Third game another mana screw gave me the win.
Second round was against a close friend, He's rather competitive and usually runs top notch decks, that time as a joke he decided to opt for a Burn at the stake combo deck. I curved out well both games, and with no real answer to my threats i won 2-0.
Third round was against 4C Control. First game was simple, i started and curved out perfectly dealing lethal damage on turn 4 before he could untap and supreme verdict. Second game i was stuck on 2 lands until turn 7, by that point Thragtusk was running rampant, and angel of serenity had eaten any small threat i could give. Game 3 was much more interesting, and quite possibly the closest game of magic i've ever had. We both curved out perfectly, had an answer to eachother's creatures. The match ended with a board state looking about like this; Absolutely nothing for me after a fresh bonfire for 4. 2 Huntmaster of the Fells, 2 wolf tokens, Thragtusk, 3/3 Beast token, Thundermaw hellkite for him. With life totals sitting at 7 for me, 3 for him. I had 5 mana on board, Devil's play in the yard, and was dead if i didn't draw either land or burn. Top decked a clifftop retreat to give me perfectly lethal flashback damage from Devil's play.
4th round was the fastest, Played against Mono black aggro. Honestly it came down to who started on the play. I started first game and won on turn 5, he started game 2 and won on turn 5. I started the final game and won on turn 4 to win the event.
I just might update the deck again after FNM tonight, as well as a general synopsis of how the event went.
