Cheap creatures allow for early aggressive play. Madcap Skills on Soldier of the Pantheon allows for strong early attacks that many decks can't handle because of his protection. Legion Loyalist gives some serious fighting power for creatures with low toughness and allows them to escape from blockers unscathed. Spark Trooper hits hard and fast and is incredibly difficult to answer. Even though he can be blocked, his lifelink and trample make him a force to be reckoned with. Combined with the aggression from the turns prior to his summoning, it's hard to come back from getting hit by him.

Fiendslayer Paladin gives a little bit of defensive power with first strike and lifelink. Although he's not quite as valuable as Boros Reckoner, he does the job.

Truefire Paladin can do a lot if left alone. With a personal firebreathing ability and WR first strike, he can run train, even on his own.
