Felidar Guardian's Copy Cat combo has made headlines, but what about the other blink options? Can we use it to improve kiki-resto? Is capable of this without for Jeskai and Deceiver Exarch?
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Restoration Angel
is a well-known infinite-loop instant win combo, Guardian can hop in there too. Felidar Guardian + Restoration Angel
may not give me infinite attackers, but it does give infinite ETB triggers. Paired with Impact Tremors that's another instant win. All copy and blink effects work really nicely with
Wall of Omens
when you don't have the combo, plus they help keep you alive a little longer. Infinite blink loops with Auriok Champion in play gives infinite life, but I've decided not to play that on the sideboard.
I've gone with Ghostly Prison rather than Soul Warden and co, on the basis that a prison can sit there any be effective even if I spend the next few turns drawing nothing. Warden only does anything of use if I combo, and If I combo I generally don't need the extra life.
There's been a fair amount of debate about including Impact Tremors as it's not hugely impactful without the rest of the combo pieces, whereas Felidar Guardian is a blocking master, Restoration Angel can deliver solid beats in the air, and Kiki-Jiki gets value from the walls. I think it gives us a kill often enough to be worthwhile,and it gets around opposing Prisons and Ensnaring Bridges. I've reduced down to two copies.
I've also trimmed Kitchen Finks (which doesn't play well with Anger of the Gods in favour of some Simian Spirit Guides - getting a turn 1 or 2 Blood Moon or Ghostly Prison, or a Resto Angel a turn earlier, feels really nice.
Keiran's feedback on Blood Moons and Fetches was useful - tweaked mana base feels much nicer, and the inclusion of Blood Moon makes the deck much more disruptive.
Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Nahiri, the Harbinger
is tempting, with Nahiri's loot ability potentially helping us get to the combo pieces we need sooner and her ult giving us a three turn clock, but it's hard to work out which five cards would be cut. There's just not enough crossover to make it worthwhile and I'm already unable to fit in the fourth Simian Spirit Guide.
