They said Theros would slooowww the format down? Boros Heroic Humans makes fast aggro possible. The key plays here involve combat shenanigans with Coordinated Assault and Martial Glory. These cards pretty much all play well together with cheap efficient creatures. Swing with your dudes and respond with Martial Glory, or Coordinated Assault. T1 a Favored Hoplite, then T2 a Madcap Skills, swinging 5 on T2 that will be hard to block. It's a thing. Ethereal Armor triggers the Heroic, but is really there for the first strike. Nothing over 3 mana makes a 19 land deck playable. As much as I would like to see a Mutavault in here, we need the colors to be un-messed with. Only one Temple of Triumph to help with color fixing, because we need the lands to come in untapped. A couple Lightning Strikes play their role to help get those extra points of damage in by removing blockers (as does a well timed Brave the Elements making your board unblockable), or can finish off your opponent. I debated on playing Akroan Hoplite in this deck, because he's conditional, but in a fast aggro deck like this, the intent is to continuously put out threats, which will continue to buff his own ability. At the least as an attacker, he will never be smaller than a 2/2.Coordinated Assault and Martial Glory play their roles to trigger 2 creatures heroic abilities, hopefully hitting a Phalanx Leader and a Favored Hoplite. That being said, you cannot trigger heroic twice on the same creature with only one of those spells. Heroic checks if the creature is targeted by a spell you control, not how many times the spell you control targets it. Multiple heroic triggers on the same creature only resolve from multuple spells targeting the creature. The Sideboard is pretty self explanatory. Act of Treason is there to help steal one of those giant green creatures. Ajani, Caller of the Pride really only wanting to get someone big into the air with doublestrike....a great target for that would be to swing with a few creatures, and drop ajani on an Akroan Hoplite, hopefully cracking those last few points of damage. Cavalry Pegasus probably won't visit the mainboard too often, but he's good. This is a human tribal, and throwing pegasus in will mean that they focus on killing pegasus over other important cratures...or you swing for some hard to block damage with him. Something to consider. All this being said, I feel like the deck is fairly consistent. I'll be playtesting around a bit, but feel like this will be my aggro-home for the next couple of weeks. Especially considering this deck is pretty budget-playable. Comments and suggestions would be helpful.
