Team Bouncy

Eldrazi Displacer is our MVP here. It can flicker creatures at instant speed through Mage-Ring Network, Unknown Shores, and Wastes; the latter of which can be fetched by Pilgrim's Eye. Early game when you are almost total defense, he is also great for taking enemies out of combat and stripping them buck naked.

You have probably guessed that Reflector Mage is our head cheerleader (Read: Thing you want bouncing.) The power it has to keep creatures off the board and stall out opponents is amazing. And we really want to stall the opponent, so hard eventually they can't do anything.

Thought-Knot Seer is another strong cheerleader. When dressed in Mirror Mockery it is like Transgress the Mind on steroids every turn for free, but even when being flipped by Eldrazi Displacer the power you have to make your opponent draw and then you choose a card they ditch really keeps their hand weak.

This deck cannot miss land drops. Early game they are essential to not getting our teeth kicked in, and mid to late game they are the juice for Eldrazi Displacer and all your instants. This is where Pilgrim's Eye cheers like a champ. It makes sure the mana keeps flowing while thinning your deck to draw into some more meat.

Speaking or drawing into the meat. Our coach, Jace, Unraveler of Secrets, is fantastic for helping us run through the deck and find what we need when we need it. As a bonus, he often times gets aggro jerks off our back while we set up, he inspires some bouncing in a bind, and if he gets fully online it is game over. Between counter spells, returning things to opponent's hand, and selecting what stays in their hand, trying to waste a spell before they start each turn is an impossible task.

Mid to late game Linvala, the Preserver and Archangel Avacyn can turn into finishers. The goth angel is a little cheaper and a lot faster. This gets her into the action a lot sooner and she provides some bouncing protection. Linvala can help you get your life back, and in the event of a party she likes to bring friends. Both girls like to bounce and both can can fly in for the money shot. But Linvala is pretty needy. She is expensive and only comes on your turn, so she just barely makes the cut for first string.

This section is devoted to players I am on the fence about. I am currently playing with swapping them into and out of the mainboard. To be fair, neither I nor this deck has seen a ton of game play. See first comment below for more on that.

Tower Geist helps Jace and the Kite run through the deck, and flying makes it easy to dress in Mirror Mockery, but Eldrazi Displacer tends to like playing with the mage and seer a lot more.

Thraben Inspector gets to business fast and easy while paying for her own draw, but I can't bring myself to love her. If I see her in my opening hand I am very happy to have her around, but once I get other options she bores me and I wish she were someone else.

I like that Eldrazi Skyspawner gets high, brings a friend, and dresses well in mockery, but like the others above in this list, I only really want it some of the time. Unless something special is happening, it will be ignored for someone in my first string.

I really want to like Pious Evangel and bring it off the bench. It hasn't played in a live game but in my play tests it just doesn't sparkle the way I think it should. However, this deck tends to suffer from early life loss and I keep thinking I need to like it more than I really do. I am trying to convince myself that I need to spend more time (read: More copies) with it to really appreciate it.

AKA: Non-creature Spells

We have a few plays to ensure lots of bouncing.

Mirror Mockery is fantastic softcore bounce once you get the upper hand and can safely attack. This may be because your enemy doesn't have any fliers, doesn't have any bigger creatures, only has one creature, or you have Archangel Avacyn on the board. When you get any of these to happen, you are getting free EtB every turn. Extremely helpful if you are playing by a clock; many times this deck does not produce fast games.

A more defensive alternative of Eerie Interlude lets you save as many creatures as you want from spells or turn them into phantom blockers. You have to wait for the end of the turn to trigger their EtB, but you get more bang for your buck when they do.

Quarantine Field isn't cheap, but when you absolutely need to bounce a party so hard they probably don't come back, this one is a life saver.

Disperse is tried and true vanilla bounce. It doesn't have the kick some of our other bounces bring to the table, but it is effective and versatile enough to still be used with the new kids.

Suppose you bounce something your opponent controls and decide you aren't interested in a repeat encounter. If your seer isn't up to the task, Void Shatter ensures you won't be left feeling the need for that awkward second bounce.

Finally, when you run into something so ugly you need to get it out of your sight forever, Declaration in Stone comes to the rescue. As a bonus, if your ugly travels in droves, this play makes sure you never have to look at any of them ever again.

This is a very defense heavy deck, it wants to play on its opponent's turn as much as possible. If you bounce your creatures only when threatened or your opponent is about to end his turn, you have strong protection against spells or can use them as chump blockers while still getting the the EtB abilities. It also makes it easier to counter your opponent's spells or just make them think twice about dropping a bomb.

However, if it is the Thought-Knot Seer you are bouncing, immediately after your opponent draws is a good time to do it. This will allow you to pick which one of two cards they get to keep; after a little time you will have no issue repeating if you don't like them having access to either of those cards. Either way, your opponent's turn is the best time to do your most critical work.

AKA: Sideboard

-For quick creature decks I have Displacement Wave and Planar Outbursts in the sideboard. In addition to its normal effect, Outburst can get you extra value if you have generated indestructible or can double it up with Eerie Interlude.

-For fast burn decks, throw in the Orbs of Warding. If it also runs some fast creatures Talent of the Telepath to use their spells to take out their own minions. If they are running a lot of madness or Fevered Visions, throw in Sphinx's Tutelage and Startled Awake  .

-For combo/controllers Talent of the Telepath is still good, as well as a few Negates.

-If they have a lot of non-creature annoyances Angelic Purge comes in.

-I also have Pious Evangel in the sideboard because there are many times I feel like I would like to generate more life after an early game beating, but I rarely find it appropriate to swap him in. I really think I should like this card more than I feel I do.

I was trying to add green into this deck. A local player made that deck before me so I am abandoning that idea. See Blink and I will Draw your Life Force for a similar theme.Comments and suggestions very welcome.
