This was my first standard deck I built, and I've been steadily tweaking it over the summer. It was originally inspired by Conley Wood's mono-black deck, using Crypt Ghast to play an early Army of the Damned. I had Desecration Demon sideboard for control match ups, but found myself siding it in more and realized it was too good to not mainboard. Once Lifebane Zombie was spoiled, I decided to see how it would do as more of a midrange deck, similar to the B/G midrange decks that have seen more play recently. The one card that I like that isn't as common in this kind of deck is Thrill-Kill Assassin . I like it because it's flexible in different matchups, attacking control decks and blocking aggro. Haven't taken it to any tournements but it's done well at FNM.
