Commander: Brago, King Eternal

Maybeboard

Enchantment (1)

This is my take on a Brago, King Eternal blink-based control. One on one, it finds a way to win most games. Group play can be a different animal, but I'm really happy with it! It's my baby, favorite deck.

The main idea of it in my version is mostly control via removal, and protect the hell out of Brago, since when he comes out I'm pretty much immediately a target. All of the removal, preferably exiling my opponent's stuffs when possible. Hence we have D Sphere and O Ring, Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Reality Shift, Return to Dust, and Grasp of Fate. Exclusion Ritual was in, but Grasp seems faster and more effective. The other removal I have also takes advantage of Brago in the form of Reality Acid, Nevermaker, and Venser, Shaper Savant.

The board-wipes are the amazing Cyclonic Rift, Supreme Verdict, Elspeth, and End Hostilities, which gets rid of most of the pesky equipment my opponents might use (except the indestructible stuff). Elspeth has a lot of utility with Brago since most of my creatures are smallish, and I can abuse the hell out of her boardwipe by using it, swinging, then blinking her to be ready to wipe again, if needed.

I've increased my counter suite in order to protect Brago, with the goal of some utility- Rewind is essentially free, Dissipate and Dismiss ensure the spell I counter never comes back and that I get to replace the card I play, respectively, Render Silent shuts the opponent down for a turn, and Time Stop literally ends the turn - very useful when someone in my meta tries to use a Tooth and Nail or Primal Surge type thing. Which happens. I'd love to have a Cryptic Command but it's just out of my budget. Dismiss at least does a pretty good impression of it though. Swan Song is cheap, and gives my opponents only a very small advantage. Meanwhile Trickbind is amazing. I can use it on an opponent's activated ability (say, Drana or something), OR I can use it on O Ring, Angel of Serenity or Detention Sphere when either of those leaves the battlefield, thus not allowing stuff to ever come back. Draining Whelk on its own is awesome, but paired with Deadeye Navigator creates a hard-lock that could well keep my opponents from ever playing anything relevant again, if I have the mana for it.

You might notice, the only card draw I have is on two creatures. That's cause they have better value since they can be repeated more consistently, so the rest is tutors and scry. To that end I'm running Enlightened Tutor, Mystical Tutor, Fabricate, and Tezzeret the Seeker . Enlightened grabs me whatever enchantment or artifact I might need (Darksteel Plate, for instance), while Mystical has a lot of utility - I can get a board wipe, counter, spot removal, whatever the situation calls for. Fabricate and Tezzeret both go get me whatever artifact I need. Thassa and all the ETB ways I have to scry speed me up. Mulldrifter and Wall of Omens can draw a lot of cards in a hurry if Brago hits a couple times.

As for other sources of blink and more voltron equipment or auras - I don't really need them. I never actually used Conjurer's Closet when it was in here, so it isn't really missed. Venser, the Sojourner and Deadeye Navigator are all-stars though. And then my auras and equipment are all tuned to protect Brago and to make him unblockable as soon as he's been cast. It's not so much about pumping him up as ensuring he hits cleanly.
