I've got another deck tech for everyone's all time favorite format: Brawl! (sarcasm sad face ) This one is a Boros equipment/warriors matter deck. Zendikar gave Boros some solid cards to keep up with the other colors in this set. Akiri, Fearless Voyager is the commander and is easily replaceable with Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients if that's how you want to roll. I've noticed Arena will likely pair you with a less heavy removal deck if you run Akiri as your commander.
This deck is tricky to play successfully. It's fun, but we all know Boros sucks and us closeted Boros lovers are getting tired of being crapped on by better blue and green cards. So while these colors struggle with that, I've done my best to mitigate the pit falls of Boros; ramp, draw, weak to explosive decks.
Akiri is your card draw, her ability works with any creature that's equipped, not just other warriors. She's important but she's also a lightning rod for removal so you need to know when to play her and get preferably Mirror Shield or another piece of equipment on her for that second ability. Like with all decks you need to know what your playing against, this deck is particularly weak to removal decks. If Akiri is being removed before you can get equipment on her, then you need to change your strategy: get your other threats on the board and draw out those removal spells. Kor Blademaster, Luminarch Aspirant, Robber of the Rich, Fencing Ace. Get them out fast and get them equipped, those are your early threats. They're early game value builders that your opponent will need to remove before your creatures are out of control. Once your opponent sees you put that Relic Axe on Kor Blademaster by turn three and swing for 6, they'll probably spend their turn 3 or 4 using all their mana on a removal spell. The deck isn't built around Akiri so keep that in mind, she's just a card draw engine which is something Boros sucks at. There were other options like Mangara and Cathartic Reunion, but they just don't fit the focus of the deck.
The deck can be played as an aggro-deck or a mid-range tempo deck. Sometimes your draw will determine that. There's some funny things you can do with Shatter The Sky or Cast Off in the long games. If you have Luminous Broodmoth and Akiri out with enough equipment on both of them. You use Akiri's ability for herself and the Broodmoth to gain indestructible and then cast Shatter. All of your stuff without indestructible will come back with flying and all of your opponents stuff is gone and then cast Archon Of Emeria and watch them unable to rebuild anything. It's fun stuff.
