Finally without further adieu I present to you my Post rotation Jund Deck. I originally started this deck with no intention of playing it without Bonfires. But soon came to realize this deck could be a serious contender in the new format even without such staples Jund is known for such as:
Olivia,Thragtusk,Bonfire,Huntsmaster,
In fact, I find it to be only a slight change in playstyle.
The line Up!
Desecration Demon - A card that is, rightfully, getting much needed respect now and effectively fills my slot for olivia as the card that must be answered for fear of dominating the creatures on the board.
Scavenging Ooze - does the job of adding much needed survivability like huntsmaster as well as a big beater.
Witchstalker - My mainboard answer to control and other decks with heavy black removal. "Oh you want to kill my Ooze? Do it on your turn or I punch you with a 4/4 wolf."
Exava - One of the three Allstars of this deck At worse she is a 3/3 first striking Godess with haste. At best she is the combo piece that allows this deck to get in your opponents face as a 4/4 that gives EVERY creature in your deck benefits.
Kalonial - The next Allstar. Exava > Kalonial Hydra > Swing. Simple yet brutal win con.
Savageborn Hydra - I get a lot of questions as to why I use this card. 1. Its a double striking threat that HAS to be answered. 2. It is a double striking threat which gets twice or four times as big (with kalonial) next turn that HAS to be answered. 3. At worst it is counter/removal fodder to make your opponent burn their answers to other problems in your deck.
Supporting Cast (Instants, sorceries, etc)
Putrefy - Excellent Spot removal that fits the mana curve and hits artifacts.
Ratchet Bomb - An efficient Early game/Token board wipe. Even helps late game if you are playing against an opponent who likes big shiny creatures.
Doomblade - More spot removal. Good for dealing with whatever I don't need to use a putrefy for.
Golgari Charm - Ramp/vanilla destroyer, Wrath Prevention, and enchantment destruction which will be BIG in theros.
Abrupt Decay - All around early game removal. Not much explanation needed here.
Mizzium Mortars - As close as we will get to a red wrath as far as I can see. It's no bonfire, but at worst its more good spot removal.
Rakdo's Return - Late game fireball/hand wipe. When in doubt Rakdo's return you opponents hand away then proceed to bash their face in with a Hydra/Ooze/Demon/Rakdos Women on her period (Being Rakdos makes her 5x as crazy).
Chandra Pyromancer - The third and final Allstar of this deck. What is not to love?! +1 Nets you a clock on your opponent and a free swing or mana mook/vanilla removal. The 0 Cycles though your deck finding you answers as though they were miracled just for you. And along side Rakdos return it is even a win condition (Yeah bet no one was thinking of that) Replicate your Rakdos return for one huge fireball to incinerate your opponents pride.
With that I give you a new facet of Jund. Please rate! Playtest it! Build it! Win with it! Let people know Jund is still here!
