Burn it to The Ground (Immortal Shrine Side-deck)

Casual*

Helicase

A friend of mine is running a closed tournament amongst us with a nice prize pool, but the idea is different. The deck size must be 150 cards, and I thought about running my mono-white 'Immortal Shrine' Commander deck with added white. However, that didn't quite feel right to me.Normally, my preferred colors to use are red+blue. I love the speed and the open feel of my own deck with this. However, in this tournament, we CANNOT run our usual setups. So this means no red+blue combo for me!I thought about turning Immortal Shrine into white-black-blue using a fifty card side deck, but decided that tri-colors were too much for the deck to put out mana without serious editing.I do not like how white-black runs on it's own nor white-green (With good setups, these are great! I'm just not a fan of using them myself), and white-blue is my second choice (to be able to get into the deck more. However, I'm going with a vaguely boros-style RED side deck for my Immortal Shrine. My idea is to take vast advantage of my phyrexian unlife using Moltensteel Dragon, and to use Assemble the Legion to overwhelm opponents, since the original white 'Commander' style deck was all about getting tokens out. This opens up some much-needed wiggle room for the closed tourney. When I test-run Immortal Shrine with the Burn it to The Ground Side-deck added, I'll figure out whether to run Red or Blue in here. I haven't worked on the Blue side-deck as of yet, but I plan to make it all about drawing and scrying, as that is my usual preferred blue style. In the meantime, this (50 card) red side-deck will have as much of a blue 'tinge' as I can throw about, with drawing to make my white deck zoom.
