Wanting to craft up a really budget deck? Do you find bringing back an army of humans back from the grave in one turn is cool? (Not only that, they will end up teaming up with an army of zombies to help fight for your cause?) Look no further, your human & zombie alliance is right here!
Side board still under construction
This is a budget deck that is designed to withstand creature oriented aggro decks. As aggro decks goes, they are specialized in 1v1. So you are about to start a 1v1 match, chances are either you or your opponent will be using an aggro deck. (Although if you are going against a non-creature oriented aggro deck, which I haven't heard of yet for the new standard sets, you might have some problems)
Hopefully the side board I am making will help things out.
Personal Note: Immortal Servitude's limitation of only bringing out specific mana costing creatures back is a real bummer. However, after seeing the new cards that just came out, I suppose you can say that things are looking up! :)
Theme:Immortal Servitude - As you might have noticed, most of the creatures are 2 drop, while also having a portion of 3 drops (but that shouldn't matter too much, I'll explain later in Main strategy.)
Main strategy:- Try to have all of your (2 mana costing) humans die, and get lots of zombies thanks to Xathrid Necromancer!- Bring your humans back using Immortal Servitude. You should have a decently sized army!
Uh oh... Someone killed your Xathrid Necromancer really early?Don't fret, corpse hauler's got your back (and guess what, he's 2 mana cost!)
That means if someone is really using up all his/her removal on your Necromancer, you can bring back all your 2 drop weenies out using IS using 5 mana, then drop another land next turn. Activate Corpse Hauler's ability for 3 mana, then use the last 3 to play Xathrid Necromancer again!
- And the fun doesn't stop there, if you also have dark prophecy out, you can get massive card advantage for each human AND zombie that dies under your control!(Of course, I find that making so many creatures can be risk when using DP. For example, with 2 dark prophecies out, I lost enough life while swinging, and actually drew a game during my testing. Extort is quite useful, but lifelink is best to avoid drawing games after swinging when DP is out.
Of course, there is also a question about this deck's late game potential. I've put in some thought to add some bombs, (Teysa + Gift of Orzhova = Fun!). Of course, Teysa isn't that expense money-wise, so I won't mind adding more in the future (maybe 2?)Tbh, you can see that black removal will have a harder time with her: Doom blade? Nope. Ultimate price? Not mono-colored dude.
I suppose the one of the lowest instant removal spell I can think of would be murder... Let me know if you can name any other 3 drop instant removal spells. Of course, credit goes to you if you reply about it.
Some ideas for the Future (might end up making something more enchantment based)- Blightcaster- Cartel Aristocrat + Gift of Orzhova- Auramancer
One of the first public decks I've made on tapped out. Please feel free to let me know how I did. I'm open for suggestions :)
