Late tournament update — Feb. 28, 2016

Went 2-6 in my first comp REL tournament, with a bye in 7th round. Fulfilled my goal of getting at least one win.

1st: Affinity 1-2. First game started okay, but Vault Skirge + Cranial Plating stole the game. Stony Silence won the second game. Third game Wear//Tear killed my Stony Silence, and that was it.

2nd: 8Rack 0-2. First time ever in that matchup, I had no real idea what to do.

3rd: Jund 0-2. Two games of me having lethal the next turn.

4th: Infect 1-2. Won the first game, lacked removal at critical moment in the two others.

5th: Kiln Fiend / Temur Battle Rage Combo 0-2. Bad mulligan decisions, bad draws, misplay against Blood Moon.

6th: Slivers 1-2. Lost first game, won second. Final game close loss. Misplay against Sliver Hivelord, not blocking it with Auriok Champion.

7th: Bye

8th: UWR Control 2-0. Opponent had Worship up in both games, but never got any creatures to stick around.

One problem was that I had prepared to face Eldrazi decks, but played against none. I think it was correct call, since the tentacle monsters were about 15 % of he metagame.

All in all, with a bit more luck and bit better play, four of those losses could have been wins. Not too bad for first time in Comp REL tournament.
