B/W Allies deck, focusing on triggers that cause life gain, take life from opponent when allies enter the battle field, creatures leave the battlefield. Primary win con is
Felidar Sovereign
hitting the field when I have 40 life. Secondary is just a battle of attrition, alot of "opponent loses 1 life" effects that cannot be blocked, can my allies withstand my opponent long enough for the "timer" to tick down their life to zero?
Why vampiric gluttony? Well....a big chunk of the deck's theme is absorbing life through triggers and lifelink...kinda like a vampire :P
Getting to 40 life shouldn't be terribly hard with all the triggers:
Lantern Lookout giving everyone lifelink when it or an ally enters
Kalastria Healer
: Life to me when an ally enters play
Zulaport Cutthroat
: Life to me when a creature dies and the opponent loses life when this triggers.
Drana's Emissary
: Life to me and life taken from the opponent each turn just for existing
Shambling Vent
: Lifelink Land
Altar's Reap
, Sac a creature who is going to die blocking, get 2 cards, triggers
Zulaport Cutthroat
Bone Splinters
: Sac creature who would just get blocked and likely die if I attacked with it, trigger
Zulaport Cutthroat
, kill whatever I want.
My allies are disposable as I want things coming into play and dying to trigger
Zulaport Cutthroat
/
Kalastria Healer
/
Lantern Scout
. I plan to make my 1/1 chumps the sacrificial lambs for my
Bone Splinters
and
Altar's Reap
.
March from the Tomb
, CMC 8 can easily bring back 2-4 allies from my graveyard back into play triggering all kinds of goodies.
Meanwhile, every time I gain a life from any of the above sources,
Bloodbond Vampire
is just getting bigger and bigger, put lantern scout into play, or have it in play with an ally and
Bloodbond Vampire
can net me a lot of life potentially pushing me closer to that magical 40 number.
Now, my concerns:
I have enough removal (6 total cards), I have some Draw power (the Reaps), but I have no real good answer to Enchantments. I was plotting to sideboard 4
Felidar Cub
for potential enchantment decks. I can sac them to themselves to kill off an enchant and trigger
Zulaport Cutthroat
.
I'm not too worried about huge Eldrazi with my
Bone Splinters
there is no exception clause as to what I can kill as long as I am willing to sac a creature to do so. I'll gladly trade a 1/1, 2/3, 2/2 to take down a 8/9 or some other immediate thread.
Low mana curve, will there be enough power in late game? Will I end up top decking because the deck is relatively fast? Will I be able to draw enough allies quickly enough? How prevalent are enchantment decks going to be?
Thinking of sideboarding
Gideon's Reproach
for 2 more
Altar's Reap
just so I have a bit better card draw acceleration, help me grab allies faster. The allies I sacrifice to reap can be brought back with march and have their ETB triggers go off again.
Also, note. I am coming back into Standard/Type II with this set, I know it sounds strange but I kinda want to have a fresh start and keep this deck limited to what is in this set. Then I can grow it from here as the new sets come out.
Biggest thing on this deck....I want it to be fun and themey. I know I probably won't win an FNM with it, I might win here and there different matches, but I just want something that isn't dog crap, but will be enjoyable.
