First of all, I welcome you to my approach to a Standstill-Deck. :) I tried to make a deck, that puts pressure on the opponent quickly and gets control over the game very early.
Cardchoice Explanation:
Standstill: Draws you 3 cards for 2 mana AND softlocks the opponent at the same time.
Hesitation: Counterspell for U1, that let's opponent choose the target, but it softlocks just as Standstill does.
Counterspell: THE Counterspell itself, it counters everything for UU and this is the major problem in this deck; maybe something I will need to get rid off, because of the manacost.
Remand: Cost of U1, puts opponent one turn behind, self-replacing. What more to say?
Mana Leak: Because we want to close out the game pretty fast, almost everytime a Counterspell with better manacost.
Delver of Secrets
: Grants us access to early aggression and can close out a game very fast, when backed up with counter/bounce.
Mishra's Factory: Can be played when Standstill or Hesitation is on the board and then get in for damage.
Mutavault: A Mishra's Factory that's missing it's last ability.
Vapor Snag: Clears the path for Delver and our Assembly Workers. Does also a bit of damage.
Snap: Bounces one Creature for free, can be used for a bit of manafixing.
Brainstorm: Digs 3 cards deep, searches for everything needed and transforms Delver. Very good card!
Gitaxian Probe: Let's us peek what our opponent can do atm and replaces itself for 0 mana.
Impulse: A deeper digging Brainstorm, that can't transform Delver. First card that's going to be replaced.
Island: Well...
