So, I don't play that much magic, but I love it, and want to get better at deck building, which I haven't done a whole lot of. I'd like some help with this cipher/mill/creature deck. I know that's not a thing, but here goes:
My friends and I played a 6 pack sealed recently, and I pulled a number of these cards into a deck pretty much on the fly. It worked out pretty well and I had a lot of fun playing with it. I tend to play pretty casually, and thought I'd like it to be competitive, I'm probably not going to be playing in any tournament, so I'm not all that interested in putting much extra money into it. For instance, I have a single Watery Grave, but probably wont invest in buying any other shocklands or other dual lands.
I looked into some of the other Dimir Mill/Cipher decks and found some good cards to add, so I don't think anything here should surprise anyone.
My basic idea of the deck is to throw down some unblockable creatures, add a cipher card which will mill, or damage, or copy a creature, etc. Other mill features will come in instants, and creatures, like Balustrade Spy. The mill might work just by itself, but adding the Consuming Aberration late game could be a huge drop.
Then, I wanna have some counter and removal, especially low cost removal like Tragic Slip
Also, I like having fliers, as they can work well as unblockable sometimes and I think Metropolis Sprite and Vampire Nighthawk could fit in well with this deck, but I'm not really sure.
Also, I'm thinking about splashing a little green in there for evolve creatures like Elusive Krasis. That might be getting a little too out there though.
The maybeboard and side board are interchangable at this point.
