I love devotion. I was laughing at how Reid Duke played a Bant deck that inspired an earlier version of this deck at a SGC Open. This has nothing to do with this deck but that made me take another look at Prophet of Kruphix. I was also inspired by Mihara's Colossal Gruul deck and discussed this with my boyfriend. We ultimately decided that the UG synergy with counters would work well together along with the devotion shell. I made top 8 (5th) in an event with 55 people when I hadn't play-tested. This has since had a variety of iterations and I think this might be one of the better versions we have come up with. Garruk, Caller of Beasts helps to get the many creatures and Prophet of Kruphix helps me to play them twice as fast as the RG/Gruul versions of this deck. It's pretty ridiculous when you hit a turn 4 Prophet of Kruphix then play a Kalonian Hydra at the end of their turn after having played a turn 3 Polukranos, World Eater. Or having Master Biomancer come out early as well. It's also good to be able to play a Cyclonic Rift against Thassa, God of the Sea Mono-blue devotion. Not only does Prophet of Kruphix make Tidebinder Mage's tap ability useless against me, I get to reset the board. Hope you enjoy this build. I would appreciate any comments or upvotes on this.
