I've started research into my next competitive deck: Dragons. The upcoming anti-boros Planeswalker for Fate Reforged, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon has prompted my research and desire to bring a competitive dragon deck together, though it's often said to be impossible for dragon themed decks to be made competitive. I aim to disprove that notion.

I'm not sure if I can make this deck effectively competitive and still keep it in Modern because I really want to use Dragonspeaker Shaman. Anyone will agree that it is essential in a competitive dragon deck that is not operating in Modern/Standard format (and i never play Standard). If I do decide to keep it Modern, i am still searching for a good card to use instead of the Dragonspeaker Shaman that can speed up the tempo without using a stupid number of ramp cards, all while being Modern legal. A difficult challange, but one i hope to find a solution to.

After going through the Gatherer, I've decided it will be Jund. The concept ive decided to go for is dragon token spam, a splash of devour being used strategically on my tokens, and a few dragons that synergize well with this strategy.

Combos I would like to see fall into the maindeck:
Utvara Hellkite + Warmonger Hellkite : i swing every turn, effectively doubling the number of dragons i have, half of which will block for me next turn when the opponent is forced to swing with everything. My 6/6 tokens will potential ly be 9/9, 12/12, 15/15, or even 18/18 depending on how many Crucible of Fire i have out. This will ensure my summoned tokens kill whatever they block.

Massive amounts of dragons (tokens and nontokens) in cunjunction with Scourge of Valkas to deal massive amounts of damage.

Devouring my tokens with Preyseizer Dragon to do a lot of damage each time i declare it as an attacker.

After assemblying enough dragons with total enough power to kill the opponent, put out Thundermaw Hellkite and tap all their Flying creatures, effectively giving you a clear path to alpha strike for the win with your massive amount of Flying dragons.

Your feedback will be incredibly useful as the deck will be primarily red; the color i play with least and thus have little experience with. All constructive criticism is highly appreciated and sought after.
