THE REMOVAL

  • Thoughtseize. Because if you're running your're running Thoughtseize!

  • Murderous Cut is usually very cheap to cast, thanks to Satyr Wayfinder and Sidisi, Brood Tyrant.

  • Hero's Downfall is a must against planeswalkers.

  • Sultai Charm is extremely versatile, it adapts to creature, enchantment and control based strategies. 2 Reclamation Sage in the sideboard can make the deck run 4 enchantment hate for game 2! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    EARLY GAME
    • Satyr Wayfinder serves as early board presence and puts cards in the graveyard for an early Murderous Cut or Tasigur, the Golden Fang.

    • Sylvan Caryatid helps ramp to bigger threats or removal.

    • Courser of Kruphix filters the deck and gains some life while also being an excellent blocker.

    • -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
      MID TO LATE GAME
      • Sidisi, Brood Tyrant to fuel the graveyard while making sweet zombies on the board!

      • Hornet Queen to stall the game and fly for victory! If everything fails, this is the card you want.

      • Tasigur, the Golden Fang His versatility is what makes it an awesome card, he can be aggressive, defensive, or excellent in attrition matches with his ability. Playing him early is good, but I've experienced him being at his best when making a huge tempo play past 4 mana by casting him and another spell on the same turn.!

      • Torrent Elemental, while being very situational, the fact that he has flying is the main reason it's a good addition to the archetype. Sultai Reanimator has been missing a good flyer in its arsenal to fly over stalled board states or block other flyers (appart from Hornet Queen)... His other advantage is his resilience (back from exile ability) and the possibility to attack with anything (which could be lethal), and while being specific to certain situations, they still add to the deck's synergy!

        HONORABLE MENTIONS
        • Doomwake Giant has left the mainboard and will only be brought in against tokens or extremely aggro decks.

        • Pharika, God of Affliction has been left out completely since Tasigur, the Golden Fang is already taxing the graveyard and he never gets sided out.

1st match : 2-0-1 vs Abzan Aggro

My opopnent played a surprisingly low curve for abzan aggro with Bloodsoaked Champion and Tormented Hero. He also ran no removal but instead ran some buff spells to make bad blocks happen. He took game 1 with undying bloodsoaked champions and a surprise buff killing my Courser of Kruphix. Game two I sided in Bile Blight and Silence the Believers for Bloodsoaked Champion andRakshasa Deathdealer which I was suspecting he played in his deck.. I did not run into any of his buff traps the two games after the first games and took them in a simple midrange/control fashion without landing any whip. 2-1

2nd match: 0-1-1. vs U/B control.

I lost the first game, but if I was to call an allstar in the matchup it's certainly my one of Prognostic Sphinx. Without the sphinx I would've died in a couple turns against Silumgar, the Drifting Death. I used the sphinx's ability to discard a Hornet Queen in my graveyard and whip it back next turn. A Perilous Vault left me with nothing but my top deck and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon took the game.
The second game was a draw but my opponent was extremeley lucky. Twice I had lethal and he topdecked the right answer! It was incredibly frustrating to have a 3 creature board state and get Crux of Fate from a topdeck. A couple turns later the same thing happened, I said : ''the only thing that can save you is Perilous Vault''... guess what he topdecked... x_x

3rd game : 1-0-0 vs G/R midrange

Oh my f*ckin god this game was epic. As soon as turn 5 we were already in the tank, our turns slowed down considerably and it was intense for 43 minutes, 43 fricken minutes! He had both Flamewake Phoenix and Ashcloud Phoenix and it took about 6 turns to remove these from the game, the synergy between these two is amazing when you're at 8 mana +. At two turns from dying to Stormbreath Dragon I desperately attacked with Prognostic Sphinx to scry 3. I found a whip which I played the turn after. I then managed to get a triple trigger on my Doomwake Giant and swing for an enormous amount of lifegain. What happened was one of the most immature thing I've ever seen. The dude was SERIOUSLY mad and swore like crazy, he looked at the timer and said we still have 6 minutes I still have time to beat the crap out of you. He did not sidedeck, shuffled his deck 10 seconds and put it down. I was not going to get ruled by an immature prick, but with respect I sidedecked very quick. I started ''pile shuffling'' and he completely lost it, saying he did not even pile shuffle and that it was unfair for me to do it. He was pretty loud and the room fell quiet and uncomfortable. He raged that he was tired of playing against slow decks and left the shop... lol... as if I was going to hand shuffle my 14 mana cards piled on each other. The funniest thing is that he took a 5 minute turn during our game haha.

CONCLUSIONS : Torrent Elemental is complete BS. Too slow, too situational, and even in situations where he would be good it's not that crazy. Prognostic Sphinx is a card that blocked incredibly well, reached for planeswalkers, scryed for useful cards. I don't see a matchup where this card is not good, it can block all day long against pretty much anything in the format!
