This is a G/W midrange deck featuring some of the most powerful cards G/W has to offer. This is my main standard build that I have honed over months of hard work and that I also use in my currently running article series: Showdown. We will keep G/W alive in standard no matter the metagame!!

Creatures/Creature-likes

  • Voice of Resurgence - Needs little explanation. Blocks, makes token, blocks again. By then we're almost ready for our bombs. If nothing else, the elemental token created upon death can be populated with Rootborn Defenses.

  • Fleecemane Lion - Looks like Watchwolf got a mean older brother. This thing is a powerhouse. If it isn't answered, your opponent is in serious trouble. He's yet another undercosted creature and can be turned into something even more amazing later on.

  • Call of the Conclave - It's a 3/3 for two mana that can synergize well with Rootborn Defenses. That's about all there is to say about that one.

  • Centaur Healer - Another decent value-to-cost ratio creature. The lifegain is very important against aggro decks to re-stabilize.

  • Loxodon Smiter - Good on the curve, can't be countered, can't be thoughtseized, can't be lightning struck, big body. Love it.

  • Advent of the Wurm - Essentially, a 5/5 trampler with flash. That's insanely powerful for 4 mana. Works great EoT after an opposing Supreme Verdict. Also populatable.

  • Ajani, Caller of the Pride - Almost always used for his -3 ability to just get in the final damage needed against someone. In certain board states, the +1 can also be relevant.

Utilities

  • Selesnya Charm - I like that this card has so much utility. It can remove major threats, even indestructible ones. It can pump our guys and give them trample. And if we're in a bad situation, we can even flash in a guy with it.

  • Celestial Flare - good in many situations to create a blowout, but especially useful against Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Stormbreath Dragon .

  • Rootborn Defenses - Really this is one of the cornerstones of the deck. It's what allows it to get through the destruction esper can bring, as well as survive the onslaughts aggro and midrange can supply.

  • Gods Willing - A bit more in the way of removal protection. Scry is always nice, too.

Sideboard

  • Last Breath - more help against aggro, specifically MUD (mono-blue dev.) decks. Also one of the only ways to stop super ramp decks -- kill the dorks.

  • Mistcutter Hydra - Uncounterable and pro blue to help against the blue devotion decks that will be floating around, as well as the control decks that are always here to stay. Top decking this late game is never a problem.

  • Pithing Needle - In case it wasn't blatantly obvious, esper control sucks hard to go against for this deck. The needle can be used to stop Elspeth, Jace, AEtherling, etc. Can also be used against Garruk in green dev. decks.

  • Plummet - Desecration Demon eats us alive, as well as Stormbreath Dragon . This helps us a small amount against those two threats.

  • Rootborn Defenses - extra copy.

  • Gods Willing - extra copies.
