Counter Crazy Simic

Casual

This is my first attempt at deck building and it took an absurdly long time to put together since I'm new to MTG.

It's built around the Evolve mechanic and the idea of swapping counters around as the main play style. Also I picked cards that fit the crazy scientist/mutant Simic guild theme:)

You could play this deck a couple ways depending on your starting hand. The ideal play is to ramp mana with Gyre Sage, get out a Master Biomancer followed by a couple unblockable Elusive Krasis. Vigean Hydropon, Cytoplast Root-Kin and Bioshift give you a steady supply of counters and Lorescale Coatl and Fathom Mage play off each other for even more counter madness. If the game goes on long enough, Species Gorger to replay creatures and trigger evolve for more counters and if you're lucky you'll get a bomb Prime Speaker Zegana.

My questions are:

  1. Should I add more control?
  2. Is it a bad idea to have no basic land? I want to avoid getting mana screwed.
  3. Any other tips for improving?

Thanks for looking!
