Finally creating my first MTG deck, going with mono green counter theme. Using this deck, the idea is mostly to get some fast summons on the field for the first couple turns, bring out things like Setessan Oathsworn , or Garruk's Companion and start piling counters onto the more powerful creatures. In situations where the heavier hitters aren't available other options like Scrounging Bandar can be used in a pinch. It's also probably worth noting that replacing Rancor would bring the price down to potentially less than $10.

Ranger's Guile + Setessan Oathsworn is great, preventing removal effects and giving a significant stat boost.

Rancor + Setessan Oathsworn 4 mana gives you a 5/3 with Trample in pauper

Hunger of the Howlpack + Scrounging Bandar Has the potential to buff anything at least +5/+5, with more depending on if any investment has been put into Bandar before hand.
